As you all may know we have a B&B here in Forgotten France. It is slap in the middle of biker Nirvana & great Roads. R3Steve and Smiler have been so it must be okay

I can organise a run out here for SouthWestBikers.com - Dates are flexible but going to suggest: 6 Nights, but you can come and stay during these dates to suite you, ie stay 3 nights or 6 nights...

Sunday 19th July to Saturday 25th July 2009. We have tried to keep the cost down to a bare minimum so you get the following for 60 euros per person per night inclusive: (Price to anyone else is 65 euros) for the 6 nights that would be 360€ + your fuel + your Ferry

A Suggested Itinery would look Something like this:

Sunday 19th Jul- Arrive to a warm welcome and cold beer, settle in to your room secure your bike and enjoy a
relaxing home cooked meal with ample wine and cold beer.

Monday 20th Jul- Start the day slowly with a cooked English Breakfast, Check bikes out then enjoy a rideout to Oradour-Sur-Glane along some exceptional biking roads. Back to Ridersrest for a BBQ some cold beer and relax.

Tuesday 21st Jul- Up early for an English Breakfast and then a ride to Mary Peak in the Cantal Region of France with a visit to Aurillac then returning to a relaxing evening meal cold beer and wine

Wednesday 22nd Jul- a ride to Egletons on the amaizing D16 then down to Castle de Val taking in Mt Dore for Lunch and Puy Dome before heading back for another relaxing evening.

Thursday 23rd Jul- Ride through the romantic Dordogne Stopping at Argentat for Lunch then on through some winding roads and picturesque villages - Collonges-la Rouge - Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne.

Friday 24th Jul- Gentle ride down to Rocamadour taking in this spectacular town climbing a cliff and see the eagles sore before once more enjoying a few beers and telling tales of the trip at Ridersrest.

Saturday 25th Jul- Depart for home

That looks to be a great idea, though unfortunately I doubt the dates will work for me, thanks to kids and school holiday commitments

It would seem to be the perfect introduction to foreign riding, plus all your ride-outs will be done sans luggage so you can have some fun

If I may be so bold as to make a suggestion, as you have obviously done the route many times, can you recommend a route (road and ferry) and estimated travel time/speed for folks to get down to you ...... just to make it easier for those who have not done anything like this before

Shame m8 It is always difficult to pick dates to suite everyone, I am happy to organise different dates if the numbers support it ? We could even do two groups on different dates - click here to see where we have vacancies

Sure I have routes and waypoints for garmin SatNav but it depends on where you cross the channel

My reccomendation based on personal experience is: cross at either Portsmouth - Le Havre this will leave you 370 odd miles down to us (doable in one hit using a mixture of NR and Paege) takes about 6 - 7 hours including stops or Portsmouth - Caen leaving 320 odd miles down to us

I do the (LD-Lines) Portsmouth to Le-Havre route which is an overnight crossing allows us to get some sleep refreshed for the French journey down docking at 08:00 so a full day to ride, the return trip is during the day sailing at 17:00 getting you back in Portsmouth for 22:00

Caen is shorter but the ferry can be more expensive.

You could also do the Plymouth to St Malo route.

Ah well the bunk room copes with the blokes mentioning that the twin can accommodate either a couple or 3 ladies suggests that if ladies ride down and don't want to go in the bunk room (Smart as it is) they can have a smaller room to suit 3 of them.

We do not have permission to pitch tents ;) the French are funny about those things and love their forms and red tape , But to be honest with the price I don't think you would save much if anything by camping.

You thinking of coming?

Think this is a great idea...definatly interested, we were planning a tour to europe next year anyway, but these seems the best bet for a first trip abroad as we wont get lost, and know the bikes will be safe, and will get decent sleep and food !

Spoken to the guys, and they are intersted too, so may have to sign up !!

Done these roads a few years ago, And were amazing, I like the area around Le Puy thought that was a great town excellent scenery when i had time to look , But was the best biking holiday ive had. Hope you get booked up m8 if i could i would be up for it, But wont be this year

Sounds like a great trip. Im very interested and could probably convince the other half - however she is a 1/2 veggie and only eats fish.....I know thats picky but could her dietry 'requirements' be accomodated?

This trip has been about friends, came with good friends and left having made life long friends. This has been the easiest, most relaxing trip to France I've had, made so by the superb accommodation, veggie food and company. I shall be back soon. Thanks for all you've done and good luck.
