Another What Bike?

Well If your feeling flush, try the Daytona650...

As far as the japs go, make sure you try at least the Hornet, the SV650 and Bandit600, then if you got time the Kazi's are worth a look-in too

Buying privately first time rather than from a dealer, can be a bit hit and miss, and if you miss, can cost £1000's, but keep in mind all the bikes here are fairly bomb proof so don't worry, allthough if your looking at the kazi's listed, take someone with you who knows what their talking about!

I'll try to fish out that ride mag, scan it in and slap it up on yahoo or something, or I might be lucky and find past issues are on their site (I know their good, I donno if they are that good though!!! LOL) so watch this space

I had a '99 ZZR-600 , so what's it like ?
As a sports-tourer it leans more towards tourer , but bear in mind 155 mph top end . All day comfy , economical , suited me cos I'm shorter than the average biker. Handles OK but depends on how you ride , I miss the howl from the air box and straight line acceleration . It is happier in the top 3 gears.

When I got back into bikes I was faced with a similar decission and went for the SV650S.
I thought about the Hairnet, Fazer, Bandit, etc but the SV beat them all when it came to insurance.
I love the looks, colour ( blue) the fact its a V-twin so its a bit different from the IL4s.

Real world performance is as good as any of the others, 45-50mpg, loads of bling available, great website at http://www.sv650.org.

And did I say I love the colour, I hate these multi-colour "shell suit" designs

Its not without its problems, build quality isn't that great, but mine doesn't get wet very often so its not been a problem for me. Others on the SV site have done over 50,000 miles without problems as long as its protected from road salt etc.

I read something in MCN I think last week about pre 2000 Hornets only having a 16" wheel instead of 17" and apparantly it makes handling all not that good, so if you are looking at second hand Hornets, watch out for that.

MCN are all townies though, but valid point if true though, bigger tyre on the back or smaller tyre on the front is going to change the gerometrics (is that the right word???) of the bike, however if it's a case of the back wheel bigger than the front, can always drop the front though the yokes, 10-13mm is usually a safe bet, but if in doubt, contact the experts before buying!

I've had 2 SV's. fantastic engine but fastenings made of cheese. Big following http://www.sv650.org Cheap as chips and the little SV beats anything away from the light. Looses puff about 125mph. Very light surefooted and agile. Brilliant in the twisties. Restricked to 33 BHP easiliy by replacing the ECU with very little difference to a newby.

Kool, I've found afew SV's that I like the look of, just gotta get on em now and see how they ride. So hopefully I should have a bike within the next few weeks maybe less so lets get sum meets started
