Anti social drivers
D & C Police are looking for ways of acrueing revenue again. They have announced a crackdown on "Anti-social drivers". They are particularly interested in loud stereos and modified exhausts. Apparently they now have some noise meters to assist them in collecting revenue. What is the betting they target bike exhausts? I think it is time to put my inserts back in.

They gave a guy in a car with an exhaust registering 92db a £30 fine.
My standard can is 99db

My can registered 102db at Pembrey, seems odd as Mosseys was a 104db and sounds mega louder then mine.
I guess its the low bass roar of the twin that makes it sound more louder

Re: Anti social drivers
That looks pretty good.
Was it an easy job? How do you make sure you cut it exactly straight?

Re: Anti social drivers
it was an easy job because it was an absoloute bodge job!
if you could see what's under the shell of the can
!
.. and if you look close at the bottom pic it aint straight.. the can looks good in the pics but is all scratched and stuff. hence why my full length, nice micron oval is back on
it also blew alot and i struggled to get it to stay in one position! i made it out of an old can which I tactically aquired from another vehicle to see what a stubby can would look like on my bike because i was considering buying one or hacking up my oval can..glad i didnt now! .. you can have this if you want it. that goes for anone.. if you pay for the postage i'll send it to ya.

Re: Anti social drivers
There are different noise limits for different vehicles, as well as different noise limits depending on the age of the vehicle. My old Z1075 cafe racer is very highly tuned and uses a 4-2-1 Akra originally on a Bandit 1200, with a short stubby carbon can with billet ally ends that I designed myself and had the sleeve made by a mate who works with carbon fibre. It will be reasonably loud in comparison to modern bikes but is still legal because the bike was first registered in 1983 and is subject to different construction and use regulations, which allows a higher noise limit. If you have a modern bike registered on a Q plate the regulations applicable to it are from 1971 or 1973 ( haven't got the exact date in front of me), which means it will not need indicators, and can run a black and white plate and can be a lot louder than the same bike on a conventional plate.Colin wrote:They gave a guy in a car with an exhaust registering 92db a £30 fine.![]()
