Re: BNP on question time
I Sky+'d it.. I'm yet to watch it.. I support the 'majority' of the views of the British National Party.. from what I can gather from this mornings radio news reports, Nick Griffin was very much victimised, not allowed to finish his sentences, none of the questions related to current policies, and it would appear from some reports that the audience was selectively picked on there own political views.. those that oppose to the BNP.
I think really the British National Party is saying the words that most people are afraid to say out loud in public for fear of reprocussions (sp) but would say in there own homes..
politics! ey!

Haha, you're having a laugh.
The BNP was shown up for what it is and the general nature of who it is supported by. I'm glad they were shown up. I'm also glad that the public's mis givings with current immigration was also displayed and acknowledged as not being the minority and quite a consistent view.
It was fun playing spot the BNP supporter, particularly the guy in the newcastle top...

Re: BNP on question time
Unfortunately it would have been a lot better if Mr. Griffin was allowed to speak a bit more instead of being continuously heckled, abused & berated. As much as I disagree with pretty much all of what he stands for, the witch hunt that took place last night has played right into his, & his party's hands in as much as he will quite probably get the sympathy vote for the way he was treatedFunky wrote:The BNP was shown up for what it is and the general nature of who it is supported by. As important & valid as they are, there are more policy's than just immigration & race that could, & should have been debated. Because of the way the debate was centred, & continuously brought back to race the electorate still knows very little about his/their policy on other matters.
The only way to defeat people such as the BNP is to engage in robust & factual debate, something that was sadly lacking last night
How ironic that when he was actually allowed to say something he pretty much hung himself anyway, unbelievably the fools have probably made a martyr out of him
Re: BNP on question time
I despise the BNP and everything they stand for but like everything in life there is a potential lesson to be learnt from this.
Instead of kicking people out of the country on grounds of race or skin colour why dont we kick them out on the basis that they are sponging lazy tw@'s? Or repeat offender criminals? Like a number of the BNP senior management.
I mean, the Gurkhas that the BNP want to kick out deserve to stay in this country in my opinion but the lazy gits who are 2 or 3 generation unemployed and are sponging my taxes should be kicked out.
How can someone move to this country with English as a second language and manage to get a job at the same pay rate as locals yet sponging lazy chav gits cannot? The simple answer is that if you want to make a contribution you can and if you want to sponge off the state you can.
I know the logic I would apply to put the Great back in Great Britain. Keep the contributors and drop the spongers. Care for the people who genuinely need it.
Griffin is a lying idiot but his power of oratory and scare mongering by the press give him a creditable manifesto to many people.
I've been in the armed forces, met the victims of nazi terror and felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up at the poppy fields. Please do not dishonour the memory of our service men who died fighting fascism by giving creedence to filth like the BNP.
Rant over. Now get on your bike and ring its fekkin neck.

Re: BNP on question time
it was an inevitable BNP bashing but when you're sitting at a table with someone who is a holocaust denier (never convicted
), racist, homophobic etc etc. Its quite hard to discuss what his opinion on the postal strike is because the other issues are far more important to people.
But just because he's a moron dosn't mean his party dosn't pick up on topics which are important to people.
i would have liked more answers instead of just cheering when someone made an anti-bnp speech.

Re: BNP on question time
It doesn't matter what your opinion is of the BNP it is still bad that Nick Griffin was polite enough to sit there listening to what others had to say, even when they were slagging him off. Yet as soon as he tried to awnser the questions the others started butting in and going compleatly off topic. How childish and unproffesional of them. He was trying to get views accross and correct what may or may not have been some wrongs by the press but wasn't able to get a word in.
And why were all the questions BNP related when there is so much else that could have been debated.
I think he has a point with some things like the country is full, but that doesn't make me a racist.. The main partys know this and I think are worried so making the BNP sound worse than it may be. That's the impression I got last night anyway.
Witch hunt if you ask me.

Re: BNP on question time
I think its kinda 50:50, Griffin should not have been harangued the way he was. At the end of the day he is a democratically elected MEP who represents this country in the European parliament and deserves the free speech he tries to deny others on the basis of the colour of their skin.
On the other hand when he did speak he sounded like an idiot and would have hung himself by talking in circles and testicles. A cleverer chair could have stitched him up like a kipper just by giving him the chance to speak.

Right on both counts Tom. I think people who say a spokesman/leader of a legal political party, with democratically elected representatives, shouldn't have been on the programme need to ask themselves exactly where such sensorship would stop ...... If you can't have anyone from the far right, should you have people from the far left? what about people with polar religious views?
At the same time, for such a theoretically well educated person, the son of a politician, and a party leader, I felt he was an extremely poor orator and sadly lacking in charisma. Whatever you think of them, one thing that can be said of most strong leaders, including the likes of Hitler, Mussolini, etc., is their gift of speach - something which Mr Griffin clearly doesn't have. He tied himself in circles without any assistance from the panel/chair.
It is sad to hear the mis-quotes of things said coming out already, but that is inevitable in such a situation - I found the Beeb's approach very interesting ....... they obviously hadn't expected quite the vitriol theygot for inviting him, and clealry didn't want to be seen to be backing down, so set out from the start with a very "anti" tone to show they didn't like what he represented.
To be honest, whilst I can't say I support pretty much any of their beleifs and policies, like with all parties aspects of what they say has some substance. The thing that gets me about imigration though, is if we stop other people coming in, shouldn't we also stop our people going out? Thanks to the "Empire", aren't we British historically one of the largest groups of migrant peoples in the world?
Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....
