Gatso tax refund

Post by VTR »

A friend of mine has just received a letter from Dorset County Council concerning a speeding ticket going back 4 yrs......not as you may think to dole out more points & tax, sorry, I mean fine  but to remove the points & refund the tax, ahem done it again, sorry, I mean fine :D I think it's the one in Chideock on the A35, & was due to the wrong road stated on the NIP.....for the last 10yrs
I seem to remember something on the news about it earlier in the year & that the council had tried everything so as not to repay the money.
So if you've had a ticket & been taxed from this scamera in the last 10yrs you may get a letter soon......if not get writing :)

Something else I found out while delving into the Dorset scamera website, it appears that they are now using red light cameras to detect speeding whilst on green

Just spoke to a mate who has had the same.
He went through at 40 cause he couldn’t see the 30 earlier this year.
Then this week got the letter saying there was a problem and would he like the money back and points removed!
Of cause he [Censored] would.

Thats all well and good getting your money back but what about the extra insurance premiums you have paid and what if it contributed to you getting banned and you lost your job. Bloody discracefull if it happened to me I would be looking to claim something extra. :x :x :x

Im not as outraged, as if it was taken to court theyd still be the vital fact that speeding occured, just seems youve got off on a technicality lol

It wasn't me but a friend of mine
A technicality it may be, but there can't be a situation where the establishment can make up laws as it goes along, that's no better than a 3rd world dictatorship.

The reality is that if the establishment really wanted to stop people from speeding it would be very simple to do. The technology is already available to limit vehicles to a set speed in a certain place. The cynic in me says the reason that this isn't done is that there's far too much money made in fines.
