ZZR wont start!!!

Post by Dylan »

So all was going well until the reg/rec fried my battery.. I replaced both with brand new, all working fine apart from the bike wont start
Petrol is low but it's not empty. Turns over fine just no start and I dont want to wear down my new battery.. Any ideas?

What about the kill switch? I never use the kill switch though I have tried it and with it off it does nothing obviously. The bike turns over fine but isnt firing... It usually fires up right away but since the battery was fried it isn't. What earth wires and where..?
What actually happened was... I got to where I was going fine, when I went to leave tick tick nothing, so I bump started it down the road and it was going fine, got 20 odd miles down the road, fuel light comes on and the bike dies. Tried jumping it again but nothing, battery fried. Now has new battery and rectifier. All lights in dash and around the bike work...? Sat for 4 days in total. Turns over but nothing :?

More work on the ZZR today cheers again Paul ya legend :D Feels like a different bike, lighter for a start, cant wait to get the jets sorted so I can get top whack out of it, topping out at 10k sort of takes the fun out of corners and playing with Scoobies!

The no start prob was simply the ignition module.. Replaced by Paul 8)
However - meanwhile back at the ranch, occassionally I turn the key, everything lights up but press start and nothing, then all of a sudden it starts or I hold the clutch in and it starts so... Same prob as yours Ghosthunter? Dodgy wires or stand cut off I reckon (that does work by the way)< I mentioned in another thread that it didn't work but I was being a dum3a55 at the time!

make sure the clutch lever microswitch is ok and the wires are connected and not corroded.

Also check the sidestand switch
