Hello all,

I'll just give some background information about myself:

I'm a chap who lives in Exeter with his missus. I've always wanted a bike and am finally doing something about it; getting a Provisional, then going for an A1 Restricted License. After that I'm looking for a 600 (Preferably GSXR) that I can restrict to 33bhp.

Before you say I'm a total tw*t for getting on a 600 straight after my test... It's my personal choice to jump in the deep end. It's the way I have always done things.

Aside from that, I'm looking to have my license before Christmas this year, and a 600 as a little present to myself (have been thinking about finance options from the http://www.speedthrills.co.uk/ garage in St.Davids) although it'll be a hefty price to pay with my poor credit rating.

All that done with, I'm great full to join this lovely community and hope to be up on two wheels sooner than later.

Also if anyone has any information on what the quickest/cheapest way to get my license over and done with don't hesitate to post.

give pro rider a call in newton abbot, they seem to have a good pass rate for first timers.

speak to funky on the gixxer 600 front, he has 2 and has been riding them for a few years. ignore the crashing comments about him, he has now ost his crown and has a clean record.

Thank you to all. But lately recalculating my finances I have worked out a Gixxer will be too much for me to fork out at once, instead I'm looking at a ZX6R G1, as they are more around my budget.

Also on the same note, is there a way to take lessons per hour, as I have looked into it but have only turned out courses, which I can't afford. I'd want to take a weeks worth of hourly lessons and then go for my test instead of spending £500 on a 4 day intensive. If anyone has any info on how to do this around the Exeter area drop me a PM or reply to this post.

in the days before DAS you could just book your test and and take it. nowadays tho they get their monies worth out of you.

once you have your cbt some places might rent you a bike for an hr or 2 but 1 to 1 lessons are gonna cost you about £50 per hr.

you can do 3 day courses but that only seems to be if you are confident on the bike.

you haven't said what age you are but if you are over 25 i would suggest buying a small 100cc bike and getting some road knowledge in. ride around for a couple of months like that and then go for your DAS, if you are good enough you will probs be allowed to do the 3 day, pass that, sell the 100 and go for it.

I've sent deej a PM. I'm only 19 (hehe). Hence not being able to afford a bike until after my test or intensive courses. I am a VERY quick learner I have found over the years when it comes to driving/karting/anything that has an engine. So hopefully I can rent out a 125 from BSW after my CBT and get some days riding in before going for the test. Might get a 1 2 1 session too beforehand just to brush up on some things. But being the cocky person I am I think I'll be able to do it with minimal tuition. If you know anyone who will let me ride pillion with them a few times just to watch them doing their thing and give me pointers it will be muchly appreciated.
