Pilot Power Ones?
Ive had the 2ct's which i took round a track and ripped to shreds on the road and they were awesome, never slipped badly, wore evenly etc. Anyone tried the pilot power ones? Want something soft that'll peel to sh/t that I can rip up through the summer!
Just about to stick some on the R6 but wandered what the other options are around that level? Ive had Dunlop qualifiers and they were absoloutly insane but lasted one track day and the journey there and back, then had to be changed
What ya think? Cheers!

Re: Pilot Power Ones?
Pirelli Diablo Corsa's - earlier in the year several places had them at £140/pr
Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....

Re: Pilot Power Ones?
If its just for fun summer mileage then get some ex-race scrubs. Pirelli Supercorsas/Metzeler Racetecs. Cost about £60-80 for the pair with plenty of life left, as most have only done a few sessions on a racebike, so the centre is mostly untouched. They stick like nothing you've experienced before, but wont last too long if you're commuting up and down the motorway everyday!

Re: Pilot Power Ones?
yeh thats what ive been lookin at doin! ive found a pair of pilot power ones (which is what started this thread up) on ebay..ex track day for £60 pair that have ruined sides but seem to have quite a bit of tread left in the middle. i'll havva look at the racetecs and corsa's!DynaMight wrote:If its just for fun summer mileage then get some ex-race scrubs. Re: Pilot Power Ones?
Power Ones are truely awesome, but to be honest it sounds like your suspension needs setting up properly first as you shouldn't be ripping through them so quickly.
I get 8 track days from a front & 4 on from a rear on Pilot Power 2cts (30 front, 27 rear set cold) & run mid to front pack in inters & really should be looking to move up to fast once I go back to a track I've been to before.
Dunflop Qualifiers are hideous, I kept tucking the front on track with those, god knows how I stayed on becasue it wasn't through superior skill or control....
Just about to try some Racetec Interacts, the older style racetecs grip like glue so looking for good things from the new ones had all these on my k6 gixer 6.
Been using Corsa III's on my R1 as it came with a pair already on and dont really like them, will most likely go back to the Michelins once I've trashed those .
But like I said at the start, getting the bouncy bits sorted first and whatever rubber you put on will last longer....

oh relly? I thought the RR's were insane! but i only did one track day with em so not alot to compare it to other than 2ct's. those were on my zx6r an yeh im sure your right mate the suspension was probably all over the place but it seems to be nice on the r6 at the moment..ive found some pilot one's part worn for 60 quid so i think i'll give m a gojon_piscitelli wrote:Power Ones are truely awesome, but to be honest it sounds like your suspension needs setting up properly first as you shouldn't be ripping through them so quickly.

Re: Pilot Power Ones?
My opinion for what it's worth.
DON'T BUY RACE SCRUBS, unless you know there history or your buying them from someone you trust because they could of had a million heat cycles for all you know despite the "used for 6 laps" advert.
I used the Dunlop Qulifuer RR's for a little while and loved them at first.
They were cheap, they warmed fast and gave good feed back, until I lost the front TWICE, and lost faith.
I think faith and trust in your tyre has an awfull lot to do with how you ride and if you've lost that, throw them in the bin.
Getting your bike set up is a must and worth more than spending that little bit more money on what you think is better rubber.
I did a couple of reviews on another forum which I've copied and hope they help.......................
My view of the Mitchy Power One Streets.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I paid £230 fitted (to lose wheels) for a 190 rear and the 120 front Mitchelin Power One Streets.
The tyres had there first test at Donington GP circuit last Wednesday in the fast group on a drying track as it was to slippy for slicks and too dry for wets.
I had 31 psi front and 28 psi rear and cooked them with my tyre warmers for about 20 mins.
With just one sighting lap to scrub them (cos they were brand new) I really did give them a hard time on a now dry track and almost forgot I was on a road tyre which I think is saying something considering I'm used to slicks and was very very impressed with the way they turned and just how much grip these tyre had without protesting, for the first 15 minutes anyway.
I did manage to get them moving around coming out of Coppice and The Melbourne loop which I put down to me getting a bit carried away and maybe a little over heating, but when they did slide it was very progressive and controllable, enough to make me chuckle because they didn't snap at all.
I fitted these same tyres to my road bike and went for a loon two days later with the psi set to 36 rear and 34 front and they are to date the best road tyre I've used which is mainly down to how nice the front end feels and the way they turn in general.
So good in fact I was happy to take my son out pillion on Sunday and get a proper wriggle on with my precious cargo on board.
BIG fat thumbs up from me.
I'm still running these tyres and on my second rear now after around 2k of fairly hard road riding.

not yet, it was a copy of a old post that scotty put on gixer junkies
donington is being resurfaced as we speak and has its fia super licencse assesement on august 2nd which is when they should get the go ahead to start racing there again. the first race event pencilled in is for classic cars on the 13th august. hopefully it wont be too long before trackdays start again afterwards

Re: Pilot Power Ones?
Sorry peeps, I should of mentioned my post was an old thread and didn't mean to get everyone excited about Donny.
However, I am rather pally with the Mark Neat (the owner of No Limits track days) and his right hand man and have been promised a phone call as soon as they have a date for Donington park but from what I've been told the Donny will be open again for Late Aug early Sept as Deej has more or less said.
I can't bloody wait to get back there along with a shed load of my friends cos I think we've all missed it.
Anyway, hope the tyre advice helped.
