Re: Tempted to upgrade options from a 1000 V-Twin
I think your list is pretty much impossible to acheive .......
A genuine 150bhp for under £3k
you're still talking £5k+ for a ZZR14 worth having ..... a ZX12 maybe, or an older 'Busa (speak to Graham22 about them) though I think that'll be short of your power requirements, likewise I don't think a Blackbird fits the bill HP wise either

Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....

Re: Tempted to upgrade options from a 1000 V-Twin
Jap, ABS, <£3k - won't work let alone 150bhp.
It's going to be a Blackbird, Hayabusa or even a Fazer 1000 if touring is so important.
My personal preference, given your criteria, would be a K3/K4 GSXR1000 having covered a few distances on a K2 1000 in the past - this will also have much more grunt than what you're used to.

Re: Tempted to upgrade options from a 1000 V-Twin
does it need to be over 150bhp ?
That's alot of power and still must give good eco and tour well.
Try an sv thou. Alot more power than a firestorm, i rode a firestorm a while ago and to be honest it was lacking power so anything even slightly sports/tourer would cover your requirements easily. As for abs - try bmw, they seem to have got it right.

Its not so much touring bar performance and big tank Hated the storms 80-90 mile range oh forgot perfer "lean forwards" not upright most BMW's are upright.. must be IL4 too. I might be able to stretch to 5K but would be pushing it.

Re: Tempted to upgrade options from a 1000 V-Twin
So you want a 150bhp il4 with the torque of a vtwin. At a guess that leaves you with the latest r1 but that'll be out of your budget.
Not sure if its possible but you could always buy a bike that you find comfy and then add a few power commanders onto it to have it set it up to your liking
Fuel range of 80-90 is going to be common across most sportsbikes that aren't ridden sensibly
Good luck with your search, will be curios to see what you find, if anything

ABS in that price range is still going to be agrcultural, I say go for a 04/05 1000 sports bike as to be honest they're all good & will slot in money wise for you.
I bought an 04 5vy R1 earlier this year as it came with free GHD's & manicure and leaves my K5 GSXR 600 as my track bike...

Most 04/05 sportsbikes are going to be better than an early smaller tank/big carb'd Firestorm (apart from a Superdukedeej wrote: Fuel range of 80-90 is going to be common across most sportsbikes that aren't ridden sensibly
