You can't see it in the picture but there's a school ahead and just before that there's a kitten crossing plus Aaron had just mugged an old lady using his penis as a weapon

Judging from the angle of the shot and the elevation I'd say it was taken from a van parked on a bridge - go to the back of the class Aaron and wear the pointy hat for not spotting them first
Average speed cameras (in roadworks etc) only read registration numbers using ANPR technology, they don't take photos - they read your number each time you pass them and if the interval from the previous camera was too short, you get an NIP through your door shortly afterwards
There is no common sense applied to speed cameras, and no matter how the safety nazi statisticians try to justify them, they are Revenue Generation Devices, pure and simple. Anyone trying to justify them on the grounds of enhancing road safety is talking pure bollocks - if that were the case there'd be one outside every school and I wouldn't argue with that, but look around and you'll see that there isn't one outside every school is there? Oh no, they're placed where they can generate maximum revenue... f*ckers

The van was ideford dip... on the other side of the road...

One of the reasons they don't put cameras outside schools etc is because when passing through one of those zones drivers spend upto 80% of their time watching their speedo and not the road. That and as you say Scotty, maximum earning potential.

If you are prepared to pay decent solicitors fees, I wonder if that would be worth a challenge ..... he was at a higher elevation to you, looking down and across, and you were going up a rising grade in the opposite direction, so if when tracking you the unit calculating the anticipated return speed of the radar signal assumes the receding vehicle is at the same grade as the camera, it will automatically assume you are covering much more ground than you really are :?

You could ask for two photo's over a measurable distance to allow you confirm the speed calculation is correct

This is one of the things I wondered as travelling in a diagonal would automatically add distance. But to be honest I don't think it is worth the hassle as I'll only have 3 points on my licence come november for this offence.

I know this is an old post and you probably have 3 points on a once clean(virginal :)): ) license but the those cross hairs seem to be pointing at your tyre not the bike itself so i would assume an inaccurate reading would result.

Personally I would tell them to pish off and re train the staff member in question on how to aim that poncy gun or shut up and give me driver training.

If indeed the crosshairs are lined on the tyre then the reading will be incorrect as the tyre is rolling away from the camera giving a faster readout than if it was on the numberplate. I personally would challenge it on those grounds.

Bad luck fella!! I got done in June this year on the A9 in Scotland.... Just glad they got me when they did and not a few mins earlier...!! I thought they were not allowed to point at your tyre!! Do you reckon you were doing the sort of speed they reckon you were?

Still it would have been more scary to get the pic and find the cross hairs on yo ass!!

Have never had a cross hair on my arse but have had a couple of mildly annoyed ones...snigger....

Hope they are gentle with you anyways fella. I got 5 points and £300 fine for doing 96 in a 70 dual carriage way...
