Y HALO THAR

Post by Helen BigBird »

Hi, I'm Helen. And I need a kick up the arse! :80:

Anyone willing?

I got back into riding about 6 years ago after bringing up the kids. I currently ride a Transalp.
Well, I have for about 4 years now but sold my 23 year old love last week  and now have a 8 month old baby to break in! :D

So, you wondering why I need a kick?
Had a really crap last year and after a stay in hospital for a while, my confidence got flushed down the pan.
But it's coming back! :o Thanks to some really nice guys in Bmad in Paignton. Some of you may have heard of them? :erm:

My problem is that I want to ride during the week when most others are at work. So, if you're not doing anything and down this way, a kick would be greatly appreciated.

I'm going to go down to Cornwall on 22nd of May for ESRAD. http://www.esrad.com/
Anyone else going? I have every intention on going on the bike, as long as the nerves don't kick in!

I'm a member of The Royal British Legion, Riders Branch and two of our members are getting married at the end of the month in Oldbury, West Midlands.
It's a bikers wedding and I'd really like to turn up looking confident rather than a jelly on a vibro plate! :))

I also want to learn to take a passenger.
I did many years ago but my son who is a big, burly rugby lad, with size 13 feet and nearly 6 foot tall (and only 15 years old!), wants to come out with me. That's scares me just a little bit! :-s
Any offers or advice ..... ? :-*

Just to warn you, I do enjoy a good banter. Please never take anything I say to heart, it's always meant in good humour. It is almost impossible to upset me. Imagine Wile E. Coyote, in sheeps clothing, with added extra vitamins and red bull! :D

Look forward to meeting you soon. :-o :-c

hey big bird, we have a rideout tomorrow, have a look in the rideout section or post up one yourself.

as for pillions, we do friendly rides a few times a year - designed for newbies, born agains, pillions etc etc. always fun, sometimes wet but a good time.

Unfortunately can't make the ride out tomorrow as I've already made plans.

But I'm free on Wednesday from 11am and will be stuck at Bridge, Exeter on Monday morning as me bike is going in for a service. Anybody in the area come and keep me company and say hello! :)):

Hi Helen & welcome to the forum! :D
about the taking a pillion on the bike, I've had to learn riding with a passenger on the back with my brother.. he is a bit bigger in size than me. just took him for a ride on a road that im really familiar with which built up my confidence step by step! also you could choose to go through some town roads just to get used to the weight of the bike for stopping and moving off a junction. then as Simon said, just come out for a friendly ride that should build up your confidence even more!
Keep the shiny side up, and the rubber down! :)

Hello there :D , welcome to site, from your now infamous intro it sounds like you'll fit right in :-bd

As for confidence I can only suggest time on the bike, ride as much as possible and it will come back.
