BSB Thruxton April 15th
Who's up for a trip to Thruxton BSB round???
Don't care who you are, how much you have, how powerful you are. You still sit on the toilet with your pants around your ankles. Yep, it's a level playing field..

Re: BSB Thruxton April 15th
It's do able, early but not horrendously so, start to the day. easy leasurely 100miles, From Exeter, up the A30/303. Then home for tea... I challenge anyone to not enjoy it as a day out, let alone with the great racing which is almost exclusive to BSB.
No idea of cosst of race day tickets but look at around £25 for adults, be surprised if much/any more.

Tickets are available on www.barc.net
Admission is £25
Grandstand £12
Paddock transfer £8
All these prices go up if bought on the day & we have always had grandstand tickets as it is situated right on the last corner and gives a great view of all the crashes

Personally, would be looking at a day trip. It's easily doable(is that a real word?), albeit a long day. Weather can make or break it, Touch wood, I've only ever had Sunshine the last few times I've been.Bullet wrote:would it be a weekday or weekend?
Those who wonder about all day in your riding gear, there's a 'riders for health' bus which acts as a locker room where you can leave your clobber. Not sure what the charge is as I just lock my clobber to my bike, chains through jacket, helmet etc and lock to bike.

Re: BSB Thruxton April 15th
Ok Boys, Girls, ilegal immigrants, Alien escapies from area 51, et all. And Elvis, come out from there, Bring lucan with you to...
Anyway,
Thruxton.
Plan A... It's only a couple of weeks away now. Yippeee!! And weather pending, as it's a long day being out in the wet then riding home in it to.
April 15th 2012 AD. Incase anyone is suffering any jet lag.
8/815 Exeter Services.leave at 830.
915 Cartgate truck stop on the A303.No fuel here, to collect anyone from yeovil and/or have a bacon sarny. So long as out of there by 1045 latest.
Prob best to fuel up just after Stone henge, there's a big service stop at the next round about. That's getting on, about 80 miles I guess from Exeter. Can seem like a lot of hassle but at least after you can get on and head home with out the faff.
Arrive At Thruxton circuit, Make sure you follow Brown signs and yellow event signs on the day...
Guess try and park as close together as poss, given the parking attendants dont know who's riding with who.
Then get tickets, lose ye clobber for the day and get tickets. Then reconveen after last race, or when ever you've had enough.
If a smaller grouo go, then it's easier to keep in touch and stay together but sure most of will try and keep together.
These times give us good time to go at a a sensible pace, bear in mind, loads of bikes go up, police presence is higher than usual surprise surprise.... though hardly stifling. Cartgate will be busy as will the fuel stops, assuming they have fuel... when do the drivers go on strike??
Have to watch that situation.
I'm taking casual clobber to change into, as much water as I can muster and chain.
very rough directions... You can google it,
Exeter services, M5 North, Stay in 4th lane, off main carriage way. Come off about half a mile on, jnct 29, keep left. Follow signs for A30 Honiton.
Stay on A30 Just follow the road, I think it picks up signs for A303 eventually. dual carriageway ends at Honiton but stay on same road.
A30 just becomes A303.
Follow A303 London. becomes dualed again after a while. Keep going until you see brown signs for Cartgate. Think it says picnic stop or something..
From cartgate just follow on the A303, until stop for fuel just after stone henge (witch you will see on your left)
From here, just carry along the A303. Until pick up yellow event signs or brown signs for the the track. Or you could just follow every other bike that will be doing the same...
Exact distances I can't say but it's ni on 100 miles one way.
Dont forget your hocky puck for your stand in the field. Bikes do fall down and if it's yours, you will look stupid, we will help but only after intillerable amounts of abuse and pointing and laughing.
Plan A sound good??

Re: BSB Thruxton April 15th
bloody technology!!!!! I went to school and all we had was a flippin BBC acorn... Maybe I should've studied and not been out terorising the neighbourhood on my BMX and scaring old ladies, by old, back then that meant any one 30 or over... hehe.
Think one of the links works, though really no idea what I'm doing with all this clever stuff...
