Have just emailed to find out about getting a course in Devon, asked about booking one if people wanted to. Sounds like a great idea. It said £35 but out on the road, it could be the best £35 ever spent.
What does thge Devon contingent think??

I think thats the cost for the BikeSafe Nick :?

The ICARE course is a free thing but made available to people living in Somerset only - maybe to do with funding?

Good to see if something similar is available in Devon though, I reckon there may be a few off here that would do it..?

But I guess if enough people hassle them (show a genuine interest) :D , then it would make sense to sort one out.
Maybe David could pull a couple of strings through his mate to get the message to the right people, even if it had a minimal cost (funding may be the issue), I think the interest would be there..

I will be one of the team putting the course together and promise you it is very worthwhile. No big deal about Somerset v Devon, its just that the funding comes from Somerset council tax payers so its only right they get preference. Look at it another way, if you live in Devon, put their road safety team under pressure to come up with the same - mind you, they may have already gone skint!
Cheers all,
Robbo

Huge thank you to Julie and Dave who provided the ICARE training today :D :D :D

Covering things such as 'catastrophic bleeding' to safe removal of a bikers helmet, the one day course doesnt aim to make you an expert, but simply give you the essential skills that might make all the difference in the event of an incident. If you have the opportunity to take part in this kind of course DO IT!!

I only hope that none of you are unfortunate to require this kind of assistance at the side of the road...please dont go testing out if I was paying attention eh!?

:)):

x

ps ..Dave, if you have any other courses/schemes you would like to promote on here, by all means post them up! Great to see you again today  :)):

That would work for me mate. Check out somersetroadsafety.org and find the bike page for details of courses. Let me know if you have any difficulties locating the page.
