SRAD help with speedo

Post by daymo69er »

quick question for you guys! , basically i got a 1998 srad as some of you may no, but was just a bit of curiosity when i ride my bike speedo is fine etc, but when i turn my lights on....or an indicator....my speedo goes to 0 then back to what speed im doing again as if everything dies?,

has anybody suffered with this before if so what did you do, does anything need changing or what not,

because i had an incident when i rode to newquay was pissing down with rain...stopped to find directions and seemed as the battery was flat....i bumped it started fine rode the rest of the way without lights on no problems since :s,

any advice would be a help thanks guys! ,

before you go hunting for Gsxr or even Srad rectifiers, check if you can use one from a less popular bike. On my old Bandit loads of stuff like that would be the same as a GS500, but because the 500 is a 'boring commuter bike' ( in perception only ;) ) the same parts were half the price :D . Try AlphaSports for part no's and compare the models and part no.s, it takes a while but it can save you in the end ;) .

i have the reg rec from a kubota skid steer working happily on my Z650, it was new and happened to be sitting on the shelf looking lonely, so i changed the connectors, mind you a modern bike with more electronics might not be so happy about random stuff being added ,

.got engine up to 100degrees took seat off and felt the reg/rec and its scorching couldnt touch it, then all off a sudden temp gauge jumps to 130 then rev gauge goes dead and the noise when u put ignition on comes on and keeps doing it (not 100% sure what it is, ) but its like as if the fuel pump is priming! , , goes to start it again and seems to like hesitate to start.....

i do no the fan dont come on for some reason so im going to hardwire that to a switch, but when riding ive never got it over 85ish,

any help would be appreciated!
