Hmm, Right.. I've been away from here again for too long. Have just been away on Scout camp and life is also running a mental overdrive speed.
So just for updates...

Ferry's are all sorted and paid up in full.

T shirts are still open to discussion. Will read through peoples ideas and see what people think. Am finalising route to B&B tomorrow night and will get a pack of bits n bobs to people re directions, ferry times, meeting places and times etc.

Legally there seems to be many different opinions about what's what. So far as I'm concerned, I take originals and copies of V5, Insurance certificate, passport, EHIC card (use to be E111) license(both parts)

I will contact the AA or RAC about up to date/current legal requirements and list them up here or a link for all to browse, comment on, take note or ignore.

I'm also taking out a fully comprehensive, gold or 5star cover for AA or equivalent European cover to include a full personal/vehicle repatriation, onward travel, hire vehicle....

I have just done a quick check, and RAC European breakdown cover for the trip will be £50.56 basic cover/£52.35 comprehensive cover for non-members and £40.95/£42.30 respectively for RAC members.

Their advice is that for upto 5 days abroad basic cover should be good enough, over 5 days go for comprehensive. Both policies give roadside assistance, recovery to a garage, and repatriation of driver and vehicles, the comprehensive just gives additional cover towards garage labour and overnight accomodation if needed. If it was a big cost difference, I'd give it some thought, but for the sake of less than a couple of quid, I might be tempted to go for comprehensive and be done .....

As an aside, I also did a quick check for hotel prices in the Poole area for the 18th, and the cheapest I found was £44 in Bournemouth - in Poole you're looking at £50+

I'd normally hit the French coast and do a 10hr/400+ mile straight ride down to Theil but this being a bit of a long weekend Bimble for me I'd be happy to head a 60mph/2 fingers up to the Police fines & leisurely cruise to our B&B at 175 miles and take in the French scenery en-route at a peaceful satnav pace...

Nah, we'll all stick together we had a chat the other evening and there's a rough route posted in one of the other threads for the trip down to Mototaranis then, once there, we'll decide what trips from there based on weather, advice from the proprietor, personal wishes, etc.

Steve, that'd be cool! There should be a GPS route down to Mototaranis knocking about, so if you've a SatNag and want to add it, that would be handy

Have you done Brittany? (I'm sure you have!) We've a few ideas for places to go once there, but any suggestions of great locations/roads always welcomed

Got the route on my Garmin now Smiler so we have a back-up if needed, closest I got to Brittany was in 1979 for the 24h Le Mans.
I'm happy with the pace that's been agreed Mark - no problem.

Same here. It's meant to be a fun bimble. If you want to go off in the week and nail it then fill your boots. I was under the impression the run to and from the b&b was to be a group run so as to help the newbies and pillion riders.

Yep, let's stick to plan A. Appreciate the sentiment Steve but think it'd be best to stay together as it's billed ad a friendly. Though once there, there's no strict plan or anything. It's a first time to Europe for some on this trip. That said, there's no one particularly slow.

I would personally like to thank steve r3 for practically putting my other half coming at all the talk of fast groups etc has put her off the idea of doing her first pillion trip abroad which will probably mean that I wont go now your an absolute F********* star that's twice you have annoyed me now guaranteed to be a third while I am there!!!! two places up for grabs if I cant talk her round by weekend !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
