Adventure, sun and sticky tarmac!

Post by Jamos »

Hi,

I am new to this forum business so might take a while to see how it all works! I found the site on Google after trying to plan a Europe trip and all my current biking mates (all spread out across the UK) either being too busy or too lazy to commit to a trip through Europe ending with a weeks sport climbing in Costa Blanca this summer.. bonkers. I thought I can't be the only person with a keen taste of adventure out there, surely. Anyway just keen to get out and meet some new people I'm Taunton based, fairly new to the area ride a GSXR-750. Anyone want to get in contact, give me some more info, ride, climb or surf or watch the Moto GP I'm keen.

Cheers

Hiya Jamos

Not sure about the 'sport climbing' and surfing stuff, but I quite like the motorbiking bit! I'm only up the road from you in Burnham, post up if you're heading out for a bimble..I can always suggest some tasty tarmac for you :)):

I also love to surf, started to learn since moving down here so I am not great but always up for a surfing buddy.

Hi Smiler cheers, the motorbiking bit is all that is necessary! Just recovering from a minor op at the moment should be a couple more weeks or so and I will be back on the bike, the withdrawal symptoms have started after today's nice weather... I've not been in the area that long so if you could point me out me a few good routes I would really appreciate that! I have done a few roads over Exmoor and up to Lynmouth and back to Minehead which are nice but get quite busy? Also keen to get on a few ride outs in when I am back and fit, will let you know!

Hi man

Great, stay in touch! As I said to Smiler I am still recovering from an OP should be a couple more weeks before I am back to riding. When i'm all sorted I will let you know when I am heading out! Great news on the surfing too, I am not that great either but always keen to get out there and trying to go more often this summer until I got injured  . Will sort something out! Scanning to forum I saw you have got a Gixer too?

By the way is this quoting thing how you are meant to reply? Or should you/can you PM?

Hi and welcome!

As for the quote thing, its up to you! But as a general rule if you're happy for everyone to see your replies to people's comments or queries then 'quote' and reply or if its more direct or personal then PM . The more you post, the more people will chat, get to know you etc.

Plenty of chances to meet fellow riders on the ride outs, the weather is improving so the rides will increase, or just post up if you're out and about and see who wants to tag along.

And as for surfing, if you get as far as Cornwall then you've come to Nirvana! Don't believe the N Devon boys ;) :p .... ( won't expand here, but I've worked in the industry for 20 odd years so feel free to ask any questions :D ). If you want a chance to check some spots and enjoy a good blast, then sign up for the Run to the Bun ( silly early morning run to Lands End ) in June!

Cheers, Badger :D

Cheers Badger, starting to get the hang of it now I will try and send you guys some cash to subscribe as-well (what are the benefits?) the forum is great and has lots of info. Will check out Run to the Bun, if its mid-late June count me in though I might still be taking it easy at this rate.

Run to the bun is a good giggle,
Especially if you don't mind a very early start,
Last year left exeter just before 4am and down lands end for 7,
Back to penzance for breakfast and then some awesome roads on the way back ending up in Plymouth for lunch and Teignmouth for icecream about 230,

Is a friendly ride so sticks to speed limits so nice and gentle.
Can't wait for it this year!

the rttb isn't a fast run, it's a group run at silly o'clock so it's done at a safe pace.

for subscribers, there are occasional discounts here and there. it mainly goes towards keeping the site running.

i have done surfing once, at Polzeth, really liked it there. managed to pop up and ride the board in by the end of my first lesson. Also managed to get some kind of poisoning there too. :ymsick: :ymsick: :ymsick:

good fun though

Subscribing is less about benefits, more about supporting the sites existence ( fee's for domain etc.) but we do also have a number of businesses who will give discounts if you show your member card. There's a list here: viewforum.php?f=22" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , it goes back a long way so always best to check first if the discount still works ;) .

RttB is Sunday 28th June and can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=37&t=95937" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

hope to see you there :D

No problem, happy to do it for a good cause! I think I saw somewhere that I can send you the £10 on Paypal so I will try and do that. Balls, RttB is over Glastonbury weekend! I've not been to Glastonbury before and am told its the "oneof thebestthingsIwilleverdo" /:) hmm, and coerced into going, still I am sure it will be good. Perhaps next year! Going to get on a friendly ride-out mid June as my recovery is on track which should start me off and then anything in July I can . :)):
