Hello fellow riders, I'm ashley new on the biking scene.
I'm currently living in st austell originally from Cardiff, passed my mods last week an enjoying the roads on my gsxr.
Any bike meets around? Be nice to meet other bikers. I'm 25, family guy an got a little girl on the way whome will be a little biker when she's older with some luck but just popping into see if anyone around as it seems quiet on the biking scene around here

Welcome to bikes, they are mostly awesome, some not so but mostly awesome.

Dive on into the site, feel free to post away and look for tips, tricks and info.

Rideouts happen less through the crappy weather but you can always post your own up.

Rule of thumb for riding, doesn't matter if newbie or legend - ride within your own ability and never let the red mist take over.

Welcome. I'm in St A during the day so you might see me arriving or departing if you can see through the rain and dark. Meets also not so common during the winter. You might find a few informally meeting at Portreath (north coast above Redruth) on a Sunday. I'm assuming the big meet at Hayle doesn't happen (Tues eves) but I haven't tried! When the weather improves pop down. That one tends to be a real mix of bikes by McDonalds. The nearest and maybe now the biggest is the British Legion Riders one which is Thursday evenings but not until April now. The actual legion riders (I am one but not very active) tend to like their Harleys but lots of other people go along on proper bikes as well. That one has loads of space, plenty of choice if you want to eat and live music which varies but can be good.

Hi bill an dai, thank you for the warm welcome.
I was looking into the Santa run from Plymouth to st austell on the 5th December, do either of u know anything about that event?

It's a great experience. I did it last year. The reaction from most drivers is worth the effort and if you also like the idea of the charitable side it leaves you feeling great. You don't need to know much just turn up on the day dressed as santa and maybe with something on the bike as well. I just get a £5 internet outfit which almost lasted the day.

I won't be doing it this year but I would recommend it. It's a slowish ride for the experience and a chat at the end.

It was advertised on the forum Last year but I wasn't able to go on it.
Can't do this years one either - maybe next year when I get better.

Hi Ash! welcome to the forum and obviously well done on passing your test . Excellent choice of bike too ;) .

Can only re iterate what Martin ( Dai ) said about meets, most are done for the year now, no one really enjoys hanging around a cold, wet and windy car park, but we seem to spend the summer doing it ! In winter mind you its really no fun. Most of the bigger meets start around Easter Bank Holiday weekend and continue until September, although with the unseasonable October weather this year a lot of people were out and about on the weekends.

Keep a check on the ride outs page though as some one may well be out for a bimble and fancy some company.

As for a pub meet down here, I did do them for a while but they tended to get further apart as everyone got too busy to find a convenient regular evening and eventually I gave up. Now I struggle to attend my once a month MAG meet, let alone set up a pub meet.
My bike is now waiting a can chain tensioner ( arrival imminent fingers crossed) then I should be properly back on the road. Once that happens if a sunny Sunday presents itself I'll definitely post up a ride out .

The thing with cornwall that these northerners (e.g. billy/Simon) is how far it is from one end of Cornwall to the other. Bristol and the like you can get 20 people together from a 10 mile radius any time but here it's 50 miles plus and then only if we're not out wrecking.

, is wrecking now a different activity than it used to be? Checking out the wrecked Golf and 306's that congregate in B&Q Pool of an evening I'm fairly convinced ;)
