Forum rules
You are of course welcome along to any Southwestbikers rideout, however your bike must be in good mechanical order (we don’t want anything falling off of it including you), taxed and have a current MOT. You must have a valid motorcycle licence and current motor insurance. You are in charge of your motorcycle at all times and SWB will not accept any responsibility for actions you take or any accidents you may have. Always ride within your own capabilities and do not put others at risk. Remember, while you are on a Southwestbikers rideout you are representing the site and what it stands for.
Thank-you.

Don't forget......ANYONE can organise and run a rideout.

Hi Gimlet,

Not sure folks would want to venture that far... however nothing is set in stone, will depend on the group on the day i think...

Good roads though... Agreed :-bd

Actually its maybe not such a good idea after all. Even with a very early start you're not going to get to the pass before lunch time and on a Sunday it will be busy by then. They'll be cars and bikers all over it and every pull-in will be full of sightseers. I did it last week but it was at 7:30 am on a Tuesday. Had the place to myself.

The road from Brecon to Garth through Lower and Upper Chapel and across the army firing ranges is one of my favourites as is the A438 from Llandrindod Wells to Newtown. That'll take the motorway flat spots off your tyres..
But you know all that. Ignore me I'm just reminiscing.. :ymdaydream:

No... This is the reason I wanted to venture in.. Got a customer in Llangadog and the roads are great around there, however I have never had the opportunity to ride them... Its the same in the North of wales...

Give me a shout if you fancy doing them again, I'll try to keep up... :-o

You haven't got a pass, back in ya box :)):

If my throttle sensor is sorted in time (bike in workshop on the 9th), I'll be with the above :)

We are in Caldicot anyway and judging by your route, you'll be passing through so can pick up there?

Bike fixed early and picking up today so will try it out before Sunday. I've not been on a SWB rideout before as I don't usually do larger group rides but love this route. I've rode for years just with a couple of mates which suited although I've been on one where we used JM's and TEC. It worked ok but I've just been reading that other thread about changing the way Friendlies are done ... all seems very long-winded to me! What's a drop-off system (as opposed to JMs) and how is this one being done?

I'll shut-up now ;-)

It is long winded but when you are dealing with 30+ bikes with riders of different abilities and experience levels you have to try and have something in place.
