Long distance TET ing?

Post by Busa Bro »

Have a half baked plan to do the Italian alps and/or the Balkan TET this summer.
Anyone daft enough to join me for some or all of it?

What bike are you thinking of doing it on?
Camping or B&B?
Rough estimate costs?

I've got a CRF 250 Rally.
But am considering something slightly bigger.

Both.

No idea. Whatever it costs. Can you put a price on adventure? Lol

You thinking of riding the whole way?

I did something simlar in 2012. A mate and I took our bikes in the back of his van to Austria, which was where the van stayed for 2 weeks whilst we rode across Slovenia and around Croatia. I do plan to return there sometime in the next few years, hopefully on the 1190 this time as I took the DRZ last time.

Hi. Sorry. Just seen reply.
Can't work out how to get notifications.

That's so weird. I just bought a ktm 1190 R yesterday. Never ridden one
But Reviews from proper riders are pretty awesome. Fingers crossed. Lol.
Like idea of van halfway but haven't got one. So bike it is. Lol.
Anyhow, I'll have to get some miles off road on the 1190R see how it goes first.

Anyone else interested, be great to have 2/3 advemture riding buddies. πŸ‘

10 years ago I'd have bitten your hand off.

I had an 1190Adv and was by far the best bike I've ever owned. It was the S roadie model rather than the R, but with decent tyres it would no doubt cope. Comfy for 6 hour riding days, 200 mile range and FAF.
I ran a company running trail tours in Spain and could do 100 mile days with virtually no tarmac riding, so I'm sure it's possible.

Alas, declining health means off roading is out of the question now, even if the time off and coat wasn't an issue. Hope you find an ally or two as it would be an awesome trip. As well as the UKGSER forum, I'd look at the UKBTE Facebook group (UK bikers touring Europe) as there are several similar posts of solo riders wanting riding pals
KTM 1190ADV - sold
KTM 790ADV - sold
KTM 790 Duke - sold
Honda CB300R - sold
Honda NC750X DCT - sold
Yamaha MT-07 Y-AMT - very modern
1981 Suzuki TS185ER - very much not modern πŸ™„
