decent trustworthy mechanic/garage

Post by julesh »

Thinking/hoping its just the gear selector gone on my Ducati Hypermotard, i went out for a little jolly this afternoon whilst the suns shining, it was all working fine, came to go from 6th down to 1st at a junction and found that it wouldnt go any lower than 3rd, its quite a torquey bike so with a little clutch slipping i was able to head for home, after a long straight in which i hit 6th, i went to go down to third and found it would only let me use 5th and 6th, i managed to make it the few miles home with a lot of clutch slipping, there was no noises or clunks or feel through the pegs to tell me anything had gone wrong i just couldn't go down the box
Long story short i have phoned Riders my local Ducati shop they can get me in at the end of July :80: no way can i wait that long, we have a couple of independent garages in the area (Bridgwater) both of which i've used and come away unimpressed and unhappy with, so looking for recommendations please of good quality/trustworthy mechanics or garages who you would take it to, i dont mind travelling i can put the bike in the back of the van, i would like it done asap though, so please if you could i'd be most appreciative

Up your way, they're not the cheapest, but there's little they don't know about a belt drive Duke ..... http://louigimoto.com/

Good news re the cancellation B-) Sorry, but the two I've had were Bevel drives ......

I guess you differentiate between Air and Water cooled :)): Must admit, I do keep looking at the (early aircooled) Hypermotards .....

So julesh How did you get on how did the story end. Did you get it fixed or are you still waiting?
Was it just the gear selector or something worse?

Gear spring snapped, a common fault, replaced along with the base plate, new oil and filter ...jobs a good un she's up for sale now, had her seven years and love her to bits, but feel the need for something different
