How much mileage from a tyre:

I have a BT012 on the rear of my GSXR1000 and its looking like it'll need replacing by the time i get to 1500 miles! but although its costly it doesnt bother me too much as i cant fault the way the tyre performs, and at the end of the day my bike is really a toy to enjoy, not a everyday form of transport.

On my old ZX6R i used to run BT56 and used to get about 2000 out of them, Once i made the mistake of fitting a BT56S - D'oh - never again

That's a s H i T amount of mileage ... I prefer something that lasts a lot longer, but then again I use the bike for commuting

That's bleady good mileage considering it's the BT012...which is a full on race tyre...

Try using the BT014...should offer you pretty much the same ammount of grip in the dry...but if you ever do get caught in a downpour it will give you far more grip then than the 14 ever would!

I still love the underdog...the Diablo....fantastic tyre and even with my manic riding still seen 3000-4000 out of the rear...and thats on a TL ffs!

Just a thought... BT012 isn't a race tyre... you're thinking of the BT012ss... the BT012 is the replacement for the BT010 (compound for compound, structure for structure); most people get confused because the BT014 replaced the BT010 in marketing terms (the sports market looking for more grip year on year and prepared to accept less mileage).

my last rear (macadam no longer available for the Pan, boohoo) lasted until just over 10k, the front has currently done around 13k and will be getting changed shortly

The avon azura Sport/Tour on my GSR-R6 lasted 9500 miles rear and 12,000 front, but they are crap in the wet.

I've found the Azura a bit uncomfortable in the wet. Nothings happened but it feels wrong. Mind that was trying to follow TomR6

Its done about 600Miles and it's totally fcuked.
Glad I spotted the screw straight through the middle.

Checking for what to get on the Fazer users site found a thread about a block in hospital with a broken neck after a blowout, so I wont be having it repaired. Dame shame lot of tread being thrown away.

This might be usefull if any ones looking for new tyres.

Think I have a Power Race rear on mine, even stickier than the Pilot power, but because of that they take ages to heat up and don't really get warm enough on the road. Had a few slides with them whereas the Diablos are spot on on the road.

That test i linked to above rates them above Diablos for the road version. On the R1 they were rated above all others, but the Diablo Corsa got better on the 600.

Mind I probably wont be able to tell the difference. I'll get D to chose the ones that are the nicest colour.

I've got a dunlop falcon on the rear which only now needs replacing after 8000 miles. Buyrite Tyres are fitting a new Pirelli MT17 rear for 70 squids.

I'm always tempted to use a more longer lasting tyre but I'm always worried that it wont give the grip when I need it most even though I'd probably be fine
