can't be assed to read all threads so my view is this:

1, Announce the ride out in public forum with meet point and time saying more info in the members area

2, Post full route plus map if necessary in members area

Well if 18 years of riding motorcycles and going on ride outs have taught me anything its that the answer to this is a resounding yes.

18 years is a lot of experience, it also means that last year you had been riding for half the time I have been a biker, including full time dispatch riding in London. In the last 18 years I haven’t been stopped by the police, had a crash or got any points whilst riding the bike, not that I want to temp fate by mentioning it. (I can’t say the same for the car unfortunately)

So do you think your experiences may be a result of your attitude and the way you ride? A copper reading your comment might well think you had something to hide, so that in itself might make him want to observe your riding.

As JonB said "Anyway I am fully legal so I don't give a damn about whether or not it is posted on site."

different people get different things out of motorcycling, it is obvious that we are at completely different ends of the motorcycling spectrum as I just can not relate to your outllook and you can not relate to mine.

34 years riding is an impressive record - is that 34 years of continuous year on year motorcycling or are you a born againer?

I dont ride bikes to trundle around at the speed limit all the time watching the letter of the law or just to get to a destination. Never have, Never will do. When im gonna stick to the speed limit and on the right side of the law I take a car, its alot comfier and it has a cd player. Staying within the confines of the law all the way up to somewhere like bude say would be an endurance test as opposed to a pleasure drive, not worth wheeling your bike out of the garage for.

the fact of the matter is that alot of people on ride outs will be speeding at points. Its naive to think otherwise - so why the hell would you want to risk inviting traffic police whose job it is to catch speeding motorists? It makes no sense to me. I dont have anything to hide, if im caught im caught, but im sure I dont maintain a clean licence by advertising exactly where and when I am riding.

Especially when you dont need to - the meet point details and a destination point or mileage/time idea is plenty.

I went on 1 ride out, to Bude in the summer.
I think the route was published, I cant honestly remember.
IT run very smooth. The "fast" group made sure they knew where they was going, and the slower riders made sure they knew where they was going, and the middle just sort of got shown the way.

But the way I see it, I see it from both sides. But I dont see the need to publish the route. OK say, 10am saturday at XYXYX it will be a long ride, arrive with a full tank. Or meet at ZYZYZ it will be a short blast.
And if the person wants to know, they PM the person organising it.
I know, personally I nearly always meet Linny and Gary and that lot at windy ridge, as I live near there and I dont like the road, lost toooo many friends on it. (Not all bikes I must add!) So you could do the same if you wanted to join half way. :D

After reading all those posts my heads just spinning. :?

Why don't we just send AGE off in front (like he normally is) to check for police and traps and then he can turn around and come back to us to tell us if the coast is clear or not. By which time we would proberly just be leaving the carpark

That is supposed to be funny by the way

Who gives a fat rats ass. If you wanna publish the route then do it, if you dont, dont. If you wanna go on the ride go, if you dont, dont go.

I just wanna ride my bike and have a ball.

Rant over.

Yes, this lot does make your head spin.

I have in the past put together several ride outs, I simply state the start and time, any pick up points with eta, and destination. Always worked fine for me and if I can get my siht together for more it's exactly what I shall do in the the future. It's nice if others come along for the ride but I'm going wherever anyway, it won't break my heart if there is a low turn out and although I sometimes make my rideouts sound like a military exercise the truth is I don't give a rats arse about having anything other than a pleasant time, rain or shine.

It's upto whoever puts a ride together how it is to be organised, if you don't like the sound of it don't go, or get your own sith together and organise something yourself.

Chill !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, this will stop all the bickering.

From Now On

EVERYONE WHO ATTENDS A SWB RIDE OUT WILL HAVE TO WEAR ONE OF THESE ORANGE HI VIZ ARM BANDS

I have purchased 110 armbands today for this reason.
