well I tried with the carol Nash omi policy....
but both the cars I wanted to insure with it (Mitsubushi Pajero and an alfa GTV) they wouldnt cover on the "omni" bike/car policy. I can understand them not covering the imported 4*4 but at a loss as to why they wouldnt cover a GTV.
Dont know whether the situation has got any better, this was about 8 months ago.

the real advantage of the carol nash thing I think was that you could use your bike no claims against your car, but if you dinged your car it did not affect the bike no claims.clunk wrote:Wouldn't having a claim on either bike or car affect NCB on the policy?
Keeping them seperate at least only 1 is affected.
Not something that would interest me really. I like to be able to shop around and get the best deals on each policy.
so good for someone that had been biking for years and was just starting out car driving.
I want to do the opposite, i've been driving for years more than i've been biking. Carol Nash is more expensive for the combined insurance, than if i insure them separately with themjason wrote:the real advantage of the carol nash thing I think was that you could use your bike no claims against your car, but if you dinged your car it did not affect the bike no claims.clunk wrote:Wouldn't having a claim on either bike or car affect NCB on the policy?

Even if you've got your insurance with two different companies i'm pretty sure that if you prang one and you lose your NCB, you lose the NCB on the other.Gingey wrote:Well, i didnt know it existed, although its a good point clunk about prang one and all NCB is gone...i may well look into it if i find it a fair bit cheaper.

Not necessarily true ... some insurance companies ask if you've had a claim on your "vehicle" insurance. I very nearly lost out on a claim because of that ... bike got nicked, then a year later the car got nicked, the insurance company tried to avoid paying out because I hadn't declared the loss of the bike.clunk wrote:Wouldn't having a claim on either bike or car affect NCB on the policy?

my mind not only wanders ... sometimes it leaves completely
