alrite guys need some help here with me tzr , ive been hving probs trying to start her and all that shit lol , anyways tonite i tsted ressinatce on the coil primary was fine but secondry was dead basicly what i wont to know is if th secondry ressiatce is dead regardess of wheter the primary is working or not will this stop the bike from starting lol. dont think im acting a twat i just need to know if this is the problem lol. as then if i can find out then thursady when i go to cms i will get a new one :lol: :wink:

Are you sure you measured the resistance properly? Without a TZR manual to hand I can tell you that the primary winding resistance is normally les than one Ohm but the secondary winding resistance will be thousands of Ohms. You need to change the meter scale between reading them both normally.

That said, if your secondary winding is indeed open circuit then that will prevent ignition - but will also mean you have no spark.

mate ive got the maunal to hand (haynes ) and thats how i checked it lol
the prmiary resitnace is 0.7-1.1
secondry is 5.7-8.5

its the secondry thats [Censored] on mine lol and yes i have the meter set right looks like a trip to cms thursday then .

Really not trying to be condescending but are you sure Haynes doesn't say 5.7-8.5k Ohm?

yes it does say ohm mate but like i said mate the primary gives back a reading but secondry is dead !!! and no reading is given

Mate - I don't think I've made myself clear...

What I am trying to say is that Haynes are telling you Primary resistance of between 0.7 to 1.1 Ohm and Secondary resistance of between 5,700 to 8,500 Ohms. (not 5.7-8.5. That is what the k means).

Is that the scale you have checked? You have to switch the meter to different scales to read the two different ranges.
