Camping isn't the best idea on the island. It's in the middle of the Irish Sea, it will rain and be very cold some time during your visit. You will have no option other than to use your bike & get wet - sitting around a wet campsite when so much is happening won't be an option. Trying to dry wet gear in a tent the size you can carry on a bike is impossible.

The van idea is OK but you will only be able to take 3 people plus 3 bikes max - I went in a van in 95, only 2 of us & the van was full, my mate slept in the van & I did homestay.

Homestay is a serious consideration, I done this the last 4 times I stayed there.

You eally want to be in Douglas as all the evening entertainment happens there (official & unofficial), always good to park the bike up after a lap of the course around 6ish & have a beer or few.

Whilst I'm into green laning etc it would be nice to see some of the island via the lanes, a trail bike will be frustrating & dangerous any other time around the course. You can see different places during the racing day by using interior & external roads. Part of the TT is falling asleep in a field/hedge waiting for the racing to start - if you could take 2 bikes though ......

I'm going to the Manx GP this year, no re-branded as the Classic TT, went a couple of years ago & it was very quiet compared to the TT but this year there have been quite a few changes and they say bookings are up by 25% already.

We wanted to go to the TT this year but just couldnt justify the price. We could go to 2 fly away european moto gp's for that money.

In the end we went to France on the ferry and stayed in the most beautiful gite I have ever been in for a grand total of £430 for 2 of us.

I would agree with Graham and go to the Classic but in the end we all have to do the TT at least once and I have been a few times before.

Another option is the NW200 in May. You can guarantee rain, great guinness and proper racing :)

Only a couple days racing but it's spectacular Thurs evening & Saturday. Quite a trek (from Falmouth!), Portimao is only 40 more road miles and it's sunny there.

Hopefully the organisers will get permission to delay road closures & racing should the weather be bad, would be worth staying another day then.
