fitting a new exhaust

Post by Tom L »

i'm thinking buying a new exhaust that i spotted. It's desgined for my bike and carbon fibre so i cant resist it, only problem is i've got a slip on but it's a 3 stud bolt on. How difficult will it be in fitting, i assume i'll have to get a link pipe or somthing? will i end up wasting lots of money ? any advice would be great

Is the new exhaust a complete setup or just a replacement can???

itd probably be easier or cheaper to hold out for another slip-on can wouldnt it? otherwise you got to either get a flange made up and welded on your link pipe (so you need to find a decent welder who can do stainless stuff for you), or change the whole link pipe

unfortunatly it's just the replacement can, he sold the rest of the pipes to some other bloke. I would hold out for another one but the last one i saw for sale was in august so i dont have much hopes. That was a yoshimura oval carbon fibre can with link pipes which went for £80 i nearly cried beacuse i didn't have any money at the time, would of been bargin of the year. I do know a very good welder who i assume can do stainless but i'll look into getting some new pipes, depending on the price it might be worth getting some new ones as mine are on the tatty side.

Speedy i was thinking of getting a new bike but i like it so much i just though i'd tart it up a bit instead.

hmmm, just found a flange for a bandit 1200 can slip on to tri bolt adaptor. Did a quick measure with tape measure and it should be the same size. Might be a bit bodged but should avoid any welding and only set me back £20. Anyone with a bandit should keep http://www.justbandits.com as their homepage, it's such a usful site.
