biker down....yes its me :(

Post by guzzers »

no easy way to say it.....had my first accident today :(

going up marldon hill in paignton earlier today hit some slow moving traffic followed them slowly like at 20mph odd up the long hill waited till hit a long straight

no traffic on the other side no one over taking behind....did my usual checks.
accelerated to about 30odd mph past first car...all ok....past second car....still all ok....passed third ok.....coming up to the fourth all ok than the 5th car suddenly turns right when im im already half way past the fourth
and as you can guess bang !
when i saw the car slammed my breaks but still not enough time to stop!

no damage to me although docs think i might have broken some bones in my wrist (the small ones - so not that big of a deal)
stiff neck and shoulders being as i faceplanted the car!!!!
no mechanical damage to my bike looks to be all fairings managed to ride it to GT so getting them to do an estimate will see the financial damage tomorrow ! and if there is any other damage

will upload pics tomorrow

still kinda new to this site....but does this qualify as a 'funky' ?

so pissed off!!! and incredibly gutted i love my bike....hate to see it been damaged...like to think its an accident virgin but being as its 10yrs old doubt it

No squirrel involved then?
Glad your OK but if your like me the bike is more of your concern.
At least by the sounds of it it will be covered by the other drivers insurance and not out of your own pocket.
But with the age of the bike, and availibilty of spares it could be a write off. :(

Very nearly had the same thing happen to me today, only it was completely my fault, bus stopped in road, overtook him, didn't see the car in front of the bus stopped to turn right  . It then started to pull out just as I was next to the back of it.

Big swerve around it and missed it by inches it felt like, a SV coming other way saw it all :| . I learnt my lesson, hope that car driver in your case learned his/hers.

Hope you get it all on the mend soon bud. Too good a bike to have sitting in a garage

Sorry to hear that m8, there was another at kingskerswell lights on thusrady morning as well, a yellow Triumph got hit by a car right on the lights, the guy was moving but an ambulance was there. My lad also had his first run in with the ground on friday, going round the Trago roundabout the back end just slid away on him and down he went, no-one else involved so i borrowed a work transit van and picked him and the bike up, broken footpeg bracket, brake lever, right hand indicator and a big scrape on the fairing of his chinese sh1te bike, but we got the stuff on order to sort it, two hours in casualty because his wrist hurt, the big pussy, but only a sprain

Unlucky. First crash is always the worse to take.

May have read it wrong and I don't know the area at all, but you were filtering passed slow moving traffic with junctions on the right? (that said car turned into). Never a good idea. I know we've all done it (I know I have!), but theres a lesson learned there!

You've had a crash, you're a real biker now!

Going into the side of a car turning right? that's not a 'funky' thats a 'sniffy'

glad you're ok mate. Hope the insurance sorts out ok. Sounds like the person didn't give enough time to indicate or did all their safety checks...
