I absolutely promise you that she will no longer be riding a bike three years from now.

I've known so many Women take up biking because they like to be the centre of attention in a Mans world,(which let's face it, it is), but very few stay the course.

I have never met a female rider with more than a few years experience.

Don't get me wrong.

I think it's a damn shame, because we need females in our ranks but it just annoys me that so many are only in it to prove a point.

The last Woman I knew that started riding was a school teacher and actually admitted to me that the only reason she took her test and bought a Blade was to get some Kudos off the rough kids in the school she was based at.

Needless to say, she didn't last long.

Great to see another female on a bike, but let's hope that she can be one of the few who can see more in it than just a cool image and a ready made social scene.

sorry mate, i don't know how big the chip on your shoulder is about women riders but until you know the girl - and by your comment you obviously don't - don't make such stupid accusations. Debbie has just passed her test after some gentle encouragement from her sister (lady g) who has been riding for 4 years now and myself. This 'girlie' also has her hgv - was that done to meet men too ? Grow up and save your rants for the playground.

16 posts in - so new to the site then? - and already made yourself look a right prick! Certainly know how to make friends, don't ya!

There are several ladies on this site who are long term members (and riders) - perhaps you should have got to know a few before you started shouting your mouth off (and definitely before you start on MY sister  ). In fact, my bike instructor was a woman, running the training centre business on her own and had been doing so for donkey's years.

And so what if some people give the bike up after a while - man or woman - we're all entitled to try things and then decide it's not for us, or actually something else tried is better...

As you might have gathered, I found your comments totally outrageous and extremely offensive. You best hope that you're not treated with the same contempt should you ever attend a meet/ride-out, because that wouldn't be very nice for you, would it??

wrong in so many ways pal. i knew a woman when i was a kid that rode a bike all over the country when bikes were not the reliable predictable things we have now, apparently she was still riding bikes when she moved too london from north devon at seventy years old, a great character that i reckon has departed this world now, and also i have met several women truckers in my time a few of who ride bikes, oh and go too the honda XRV forum and air your views to Sharrie and Anette, see how ya come out of that , Sharrie has an africa twin and a BMW, Anette also has a africa twin i think and only failed to do John o groats too lands end on the longest day of the year last year cos her bike broke down and Sharrie cos she was laid up after a knee op,

I ride a ZX6R and have been riding for over 4 years, I also love doing trackdays you should go to Pembrey and the ladies that ride there will show you a thing or 2

Wow! What an assumption to make!!! And especially about someone you haven't even met?? (??))

Undoubtedly there are going to be girls out there that have a bike for more than just 'biking' reasons! BUT, if you think that most women are into bikes to "be the centre of attention in a mans world", my friend you are sadly very wrong.

You've never met a woman with more than a few years riding experience? Well, given your attitude as to why women get into biking in the first place, I reckon the "experienced" ones give you a wide berth!!!

Yes, congratulations if you've worked it out that I am indeed an girlie/lady/female. For the record, I have absolutely nothing to prove by riding a bike. Is it not conceivable that I might want to enjoy riding for similar reasons to yourself??

Jeez, attitudes like that are so last century!!

....oo, and from what I heard, Funky don't need to 'tuck' to begin the baking!!!!

Wow, what a completley unneccesary and unjustified comment!

Im pretty new to the site and have only been riding since last Summer, but i can safely say my reasons for starting riding were nothing to do with wanting male attention or a ready made social scene, I am very happily single and already have a great group of mates, most of whom ride anyhoo, the main reason i got into it was thanks to them encouraging me and me being a bit jealous of the fun they were having, it wasnt to prove anything to anyone, this is 2009 mate!!!

Hi Smiler,
Not sure to be honest, I only know of her from the 'XT' owners club, looking forward to meeting her in May @ a big XT meet in 'Hay-on-Wye'. :D

Just another typical Girlie biker though, has a bike for a fashion accessorie and to nip down to the shops, the odd trip to the beauty parlour..........Oh! and also, She has ridden from London to Cape Town and from Alaska to Argentina. 8)
I dunno, the length girls will go to for a bit of attention, probably only did it to try and impress 'andyals'
