Parking in Plymouth
Are you one of the many people who, like me, park your bike up on the pavement in that area between St. Andrews Cross and Drakes Circus where lot's of bikes park ?
Well apparently, that is not a designated motorcycle parking area, but has just been sort of taken over.
I've heard a rumour from a few different places, that plans are afoot to ban bikes parking there.
It's a bit sketchy, but apparently some of the traders have complained, and there have been a few incidents of riders mounting the pavement, barging through pedestrians, and generally causing a danger to people who actually do have every right to walk the pavement without fear of being crashed into by some muppet with no thought or consideration.
If it is true, (and it's just a rumour I've heard), it'll ba a sad case of a few mindless morons spoiling it for the rest of us.

Would not surprise me if it is true. Seen the cox myself. Absolute TO55ERS! Unfortunately I have to side with the traders in this case even though I park there and use the cafes.Stately wrote: It's a bit sketchy, but apparently some of the traders have complained, and there have been a few incidents of riders mounting the pavement, barging through pedestrians, and generally causing a danger to people who actually do have every right to walk the pavement without fear of being crashed into by some muppet with no thought or consideration.
.
Worst one I saw was a Harley rider who not only rode aggressively but then continued to threaten the shop keeper who asked him to slow down a bit. The shop keeper did it in a really amiable fashion. I was embarassed to be a biker that day and can only be thankful that most Harley riders choose to ignore me on the road cos I ride a sports bike. That co.ck cost us a lot of public empathy and support with his actions that day.
When he came to speak to me and my pillion as we were leaving he was looking for some moral support. I told him to fekk off which had the desired effect.

Again you've proven that you cant read. I have done
Its funny how when you are challenged and come up with a decent reply you just resort to insults
Defensive riding isnt that.Cheese Monkey wrote:Avoidance to me is actually avoiding an imminent accident. Escape routes etc.

Re: Parking in Plymouth
Bike parking is looking pretty grim here if you ask me. With the west end pavement being redone, it doesn't look like the current bike bays on cornwall street are going back in and I'd imagine that the parking on new george street will be car bays as well, if that pavement goes out out of bounds then I think that leaves the bike parking behind the pannier market and Colin Campbell Court? Can't say I'd leave my bike there unattended and out of sight all day whilst I work tbh.
