Paint Code?
After seeing everyone else's shiney new bikes yesterday I think I should just get on with my bike and spray it. I'ts had yellow filler primer over the front of it for about a month now and people are starting to know the bike for it having this!
So I'm gona go up halfrauds and get some paint mixed. Where can I find 'the paint code' on the bike? Is are there any places on the bike where it will usally be? Thanks, Tom.

Re: Paint Code?
you should have three paint codes on there mate, one for the green, one for the blue and one for white, there is a company we use at work for bike colours because a lot of bikes don`t have the codes on them because the bike companies want you to buy new panels, will try and find the number for the company for you mate

Re: Paint Code?
PJ1 do a Kawasaki green 500ml aerosol which is the match you need, it is a very good paint which covers well and sprays well, warm the can in a bowl of hot water for a few moments then dry it off with a towel. As for the pearl white, their is a company that advertises in MCN that will make up cans of the correct colour for you. I've always found halfrauds to be feckin useless at mixing paint, they attempted three different times to get Kwak green for me and cocked it up every time.

Re: Paint Code?
Hi mate, thanks for your advice!
I just needed the green, posted up the same thread on the ZXR forum and came back with the paint code I needed. I went and got it mixed at halfrauds and have sprayed it now..
It's turned out pretty well although it hasnt dried yet.. I've got one area where it ran slightly, although it's not much of a probelm as that part's gonna be covered in stickers!
Is there an easy way of getting rid of the drip/part that ran?.. I'm guessing the best way is just to wait until it's completley dried and then gently sand the drip down and put a light layer over the top of it?.. It doesnt have to be text book.. because as I said it's gonna be covered in stickers and I'm not too pickky!
Thanks for your help, Tom.

Re: Paint Code?
A quick covering of grass clippings and stones would finish it off nicely

aaahahaha! yeh i've laid it neatly on the floor at the front of the garage to let the rain dampen it abit and give it a good finish. and then i might bring the dog outside and give it a brush next to it once the paint is tacking off!delvey91 wrote:A quick covering of grass clippings and stones would finish it off nicely

Re: Paint Code?
I was doing some bits on my GPZ when i got some runs with the lacqeur and all i did was wait until it was definately dry then use some T-cut and rubbed hard and it just cuts it back bit by bit until you can't see the run any more, it can be hard work just concentrating on that area but it looks better in the end.........TOM91 wrote: Is there an easy way of getting rid of the drip/part that ran?.. Re: Paint Code?
Wait till its dry through, use some high grade paper wet and dry usually the best way to go, for runs i used to use 1500 or 2000, usually a 1500 as your doing basecoat. flat it back, and feather it out with the remaining area, then blow it in again. If it still dosnt look right, Wait for total bake off, remove the run, and then go over all the paint youve done and just key it back up using the wet and dry so it looks slightly matt, clean and respray.
