mot requirements

Post by ZX6Rich »

While fixing the R6 thought if its not too much trouble to make it able to go through mot then I would. Anyone know what is legally required to get her through the MOT?

Bit of conflicting info...............but..........

Horn
Legal no.plate
rear reflector
Possibly a brake light that works off both levers and possibly a locking fuel cap.

Your best bet is to actually ask your local MOT centre, find out what they actually want.

Ask the one you're going to use. They *may *interperet the rules differently to the one you ask.Lights generally only have to work if they are fitted,so no indicators required.(two fingered hand signals are good enough :)): ) I'm 95% sure a brake light isn't required, but if it were me I think I would want one.
ETA. Have a read through the test manual.......... http://www.transportoffice.gov.uk/crt/d ... guides.htm

yep electrically operated horn and a rear reflector is the minimum thats required

if it has one light working then it must have all lights working

a brake light is not a requirement for a MOT

You sure about a rear reflector? If you read the section on rear reflectors(1:4) I read it as it only applies if you have lights, which kinda makes sense.A reflector is a backup system incase of light failure? No lights to fail,no back up required? Pretty useless during the day in good visibility anyway ?
