castle combe??

Post by Red5 »

has anyone done Castle Combe? How do you rate it? Just thinking it might be an option without the business or expense of accomodation etc. Can't be a couple hrs away.
The only down side I can see is the sound limit, but that's becoming more common place this day and age anyway.

They run the bike track days regularly so just an idea.

Don't care who you are, how much you have, how powerful you are. You still sit on the toilet with your pants around your ankles. Yep, it's a level playing field..

I made an enquiry some time back, this was the answer.

We can accomodate a maximum of 72 bikes, with a maximum of 12 bikes on track at any one time (you are allocated a group number at the start of the day). You will get one 10 minute session per hour during the day. The track is open 9am-5pm, with an hour's break for lunch.

So short sessions, always on a Wednesday I believe, track is a bit bumpy,No PA system in the paddock so quite easy to miss your group call (IIRC), and the noise limit. Like you say,its redeeming feature is its close to home!

Don't forget you have to have a bike that is quieter than a gnats fart.

Went there last year.

They market it as a “track experience day”

Groups are mixed ability. Done on a first come first service basis.

On our day they only had 40 or so, so they gave us 4x 15 minutes sessions until the afternoon when some had left.

Then changed to open pit lane but still no more than 12 on track at any one time.

You need to do it once or twice for the experience and to tick the box, but not a serious trackday option really.

Not riden Castle Combe yet but went lots last year to help out The Bike Experience. Talan's bikes aren't that quiet but I guess they only go out at lunch. Shame as I would love to ride it too but think my bike might be a bit loud if it went in the metal shed they test in.

Great track. Very fast. Tight noise restrictions.

Fully recommended
