VFR 750 rear shock

Post by loftylee »

OK, so according to Mr MOT man my viffer has a wobbly back end

To quote the MOT refusal 'Rear shock absorber has inadequate damping effect'

Just looked on fleabay and a new shock will cost me over £300 with P&P :-o

Does anyone have any ideas/workarounds or somewhere that does cheaper shocks?
All ideas welcome :)

VFR 750 FM (Single side swingarm model) '91

Cheers

Try Dave Silver Spares........worth ringing them, I remember many years ago when working at Crofts Motorcycles the vfr,s 90 to 93 we had special tools to strip them down so you can just replace the nitrogen filled shock using your spring etc. But like most things these days they want to sell you the complete ass. They might do a service exchange unit.

Service is less than £150, Hagon is about £280. Service if you can wait is always a good option

I used to have exactly the same bike with the same problem. Basically kept an eye on ebay and got a 2nd hand one (with rebound adjustment also) for £35. Still old and past its best but it got me thru the MOT :)
Bikeless again :/

Cheers for the advice people..I will get the old shock stripped out and then sort out about getting it serviced.
