Just a hello from an old Exeter biker.

Post by bikergraham »

I find myself with a few spare hours so thought i'd share some time on my favourite subject.BIKES. I hope to be at the 60th party on thursday and make myself known to the Anthony family as i was good freinds with "Tony" the founder during the middle 60s right up to his sad passing.I used to clean his personal extensive bike and car collection during my holidays,in the showroom you'll see a Vincent Black Shadow, that was one of a pair he had,The one in the showroom he purchased in a box as my memory serves me the other one he exchanged for a new [ at the time ] CZ 175 2 stroke.Ha imagine that now.He had a Morgan 3 wheeler with a v twin engine, that i rode in several times when the weather was good and also a 4.2 Jag which was his run around.I also went out on his boat from Starcross together with his wife,oh they were great days! He was a great man.I started going to Bridge Garage in the mid 60s when i was 14 years old,i'm now 61 so a couple of years ago you might say,the garage was in Commercial Road then, bought my first "legal" bike from him in 1968,a D7 B.S.A. bantam and spent more time at the garage than his mechanics did,im sure he used to get fed up with me hanging about.Since then ive owned literally hundreds of bikes including ,in the 80s several new Harleys,i even met Willy G Davidson at a king Harley rally in 1983,i think it was the only time he ever came to England, ive still got his autograph somewhere.I owned the first Harley in Exeter in 1972 ,a W.L.A.750 Side valve just after i saw Easy Rider, what a great film.I dont ride so much nowerdays but i did visit Auswitch in Poland on my bike a couple of years ago.Well worth a visit.Anyway i wont bore you any longer, with my yesterdays. If anyone of the old gang knows me i'd be very happy to here from you.
