Cadwell Park write up 8/8/16

Post by billinom8s »

Well, that was an awesome day for me, two for some.

The run up was relaxed apart from the hour around Axbridge cos of the rubber neckers for a 4 car shunt. It's the only time a 5hr drive is worth the effort - CADWELL is awesome and well worth the trip.

WE EVEN HAD SUN!

Got there with Matt around 6 and bagged a prize location for setting up the gazebo, lashed it in with the gazebos belonging Scolist, shammy and gsxrbrooky. We left steve guarding the gazebos overnight while we all buggered off to the farmhouse the nick had found for all of us - top find Nick, will use that place again. So long as you make Brooky and Jimbo share the snug again - the snoring was a killer.

Day 1

Got to the track nice and early and time to get a brew on, unload the bikes and get the genny fired up. There were a few nervous faces in our group as the thought of the first time over the mountain is pant filling and not in the good way.
It's actually not that scary.
Everybody got signed in and then the briefing began, not as much fun or mention of boobies as at Llandow but still, it had to be done.

Sighting laps done, let the fun begin. I was on my new trackbike so was bimbling round and finding out what happened when i twist the throttle, i found that the fun started - quickly.

Going through the day you could see that the nerves had passed within the group and talk of mountain wheelies had begun. There are photos in peoples’ possession of monster wheelies from Farmermatt and Gaulbladder. It’s an amazing circuit and it’s still a little had to believe they are allowed to get away with having a jump on such a fast circuit.
As always, a sunny cadwell always brings out the fun in trackdays and we had lots of sun which meant lots of hot, melty, tyres. I think Scooby may be getting some scrub trade before the next one.
Shammy was there with her personal trainer who was with her every step of the way on Cadwell kicks ass!
At the end of the day we adjourned back to the farmhouse to veg out, fix a genny, eat F&C, play some cards and then watch videos of the days’ laps. A good nights’ sleep followed now that brooky had been banished to jimbos’ snug so the following day was less in search of cafifne and more watching the laps before Matt and I departed for Mallory and our instruction day with Jamie Whitham…..

All i have to say is this, if you have never done Cadwell Park circuit, DO IT, yes it's a good trek north but it's worth it.

I must say the track walk on Sunday worries the B-Jesus out of me. The phrase Billy goat country was used multiple times. However walking the track and riding the track was two very differant things. I took to it like duck to water yes me the bloke who only does flat tracks. By the the end of the first session was well into it and realy to roll.

And yes was my genorator that decided it was not going to work (gurrrr) so a special thanks to Jimbo and Brooky for letting me plug into there's. And a thanks to Billinom8s and Red5 for fixing it in the evening.

The vids mentioned above were great fun to record and most interesting to watch. (See the separate thread I posted for all the vids if you want a look)

Great accommodation Red5 and just down the road thanks

Brooky your a great bloke but my god you snore like a wart hog...........

Really good fun. Great people, great track like Simon well recommend it
