Update on Daves bike

Post by Dave »

Got the fairings off today, managed to scratch every one

Left side fairing is intact but the right is pretty smacked up.
Managed to put a small crack in the front fairing and smash the right air duct.

Fuel tank suffered very badly with gravel rash.

Forks seem to be untouched, but I managed to twist the front fairing bracket which I still need to heat up and re-bend.

Right hand clip on is quite bent, started to bend it back but whilst heating it up I remembered what happened to funkys, so I found one on ebay and ordered it to be on the safe side.

Got the fuel tank removed and took the airbox off, had a shed load of gravel in the air box but luckily none of it made its way down in to the engine.

Managed to grind about 15mm of the side of the exhaust but managed to get a new one on ebay for £20.

Had some bad scratches on the right hand side of the frame under the tank, but managed to sand it down and spray with some 80's steel wheel paint (cheers dad  )

Still got alot to do but could not do anymore due to aches and pains coming back.

God I feel old

Had the front fairing though the post today, had a few cracks but was cheap enough.

Started with a soldering iron and melt in the cracks, have sanded after them and just need to get some filler tomorrow from halfords and it should be as smooth as a babies bum.

Also won a side fairing on ebay today for 99p (£12.00 postage though).

Has some scratches but is all intact. So I am on my way to having 2 sets of fairings.
