Look in here for local ride outs...

Forum rules
You are of course welcome along to any Southwestbikers rideout, however your bike must be in good mechanical order (we don’t want anything falling off of it including you), taxed and have a current MOT. You must have a valid motorcycle licence and current motor insurance. You are in charge of your motorcycle at all times and SWB will not accept any responsibility for actions you take or any accidents you may have. Always ride within your own capabilities and do not put others at risk. Remember, while you are on a Southwestbikers rideout you are representing the site and what it stands for.
Thank-you.

Don't forget......ANYONE can organise and run a rideout.

im confused now nick, wheres the problem with the zx10 if its road legal.

my k3 will have a valid daylight mot, tax, baffled exhaust/insurance and a full sized plate so would be more legal than most peoples road bikes when its done but it wont be ready for a few weeks as im waiting for the v5. are you saying that i wouldnt be welcome on a SWB rideout with a completely road legal bike that just doesnt have lights or indicators. it would be in far better condition than some of the bikes you see on the streets at the moment

isnt the site a place to post where your meeting for rides rather than turning up looking like a billy no mates and leaving on your own again.some people dont feel confident speaking to strangers in pub/dealer car parks.

Maybe it was the wink at the end of the statement that made the 'Trackbike' sound like a 'Trackbike' and not a road legal bike...

Or maybe it was the word 'Trackbike' that made it sound like a 'Trackbike' and not a road legal road bike...

I dunno... but then neither do a few other members it seems... :?

The last time a guy came on a rideout with a trackbike, he rode like a tw@t all day...

Ps... reply wasn't solely based on this Trackbike post...

yeah thats fair enough,i was just confused by it. just cause it says trackbike means its dangerous to some i guess or shows a rider of better abilitly who may show them up ?? not me as im just a intermiadate runner on a trackday but i bet its spooked a few people. i reckon the track bike will be a safer rider than 30% of the people on a rideout

my bike is mainly going to be used on the track but will be 100% road legal so i can test it and go for the occasional ride with mates and the cops will just be wasting their time if they stop me. i reckon i'll be lucky to do a 1000miles on the road this year with work and lack of time.

No, we're not boring Old farts, and yes, we do go a 'little' over the speed limit sometimes, but there have been several complaints about some riding antics on recent rideouts, with some members refusing to go on rideouts because they feel there are unneccesary risks being taken... Hence 'Secret' rideouts...
The problem is that ones persons perception of unnecassary risk might be miles out from anothers and what people tend to fail to realise is that this often has little to do with who is more likely to crash or end up pulled at the roadside for speeding. On a site which is aimed at attracting all sorts of motorcyclists you are always going to get that varying perception.

I have little sympathy for people who complain about other peoples riding, as motorcyclists we like to blame other people whether it be cars that cause us accidents and drive badly, or mad bikers who speed everywhere and cause accidents and give us a bad name - its always someone else. In reality we should just all concern ourselves with our own riding and then there might be less crashes.

other peoples riding only becomes a problem if you have the inability to deal with it...... view this as it is actually you with the problem and you will improve your riding....view it the other way around and stagnate....

just my twopence worth feel free to ignore it... :)

that sounds about right to me jason, too many people worry about other people and their abilities rather than themselves. if we all just relaxed and enjoyed the ride at our own pace life would be great

Sorry buddy i cant make it tomoz got to work.

People who go on these rides have to ride at there own pace & not try to keep up with the person in front, the reason Shaun ended upin hospital was down to him and no one else, he over stepped the mark.

EVERYONE HAS THERE OWN LEVEL OF RIDING........... 8) 8)

Absolutely, and when you know you can 'Trust' a person around you to take them risks without involving yourself, there's no problem.
jason wrote: other peoples riding only becomes a problem if you have the inability to deal with it......
Agreed... and on bigger rideouts groups are arranged where people admit their competence level and ride to their abilities... But...

Often the 'Big Boys' buzz the slower groups and scare the crap outta them, thereby taking the 'Ability to Deal with it' out of the slower groups hands.

Have a great ride tomorrow guys... Can't come with you... Man Flu...

Ps... thanx for the PM Dave... You're a 'Stand up guy'...

Back to Jasons little speech there. In a way i agree.

I don't personally go around blaming other people for there poor riding but do try and do my best to avoid an accident with them. Hence why i have always said that a good DRIVER or RIDER avoids accidents not cause them. Expect the unexpected.

But i do feel the reason this subject has been raised is that, do you really want to ride with people that you are always worried are going to do next and risk not just thier own lives but those around them without really thinking. Its the RED MIST again.

Now before you all start a rant with me, I ain't moaning about anything. Just read between the lines and picked up with want was wrote.

The prob is that its a public site and we are a friendly bunch who just want to ride safely with out drawing tooo much attention to ourselfs.

See that was easy wasn't it :?

yep completely agree blimey

i used to ride with mates who thought it was good to have a pint or 2 of cider fro lunch as it made them "RIDE" better on the way home,i dont ride with them any more as it didnt it made them more carefree and reckless and made me keep out of their way as i didnt trust them and i need to trust the people i ride with on the roads, even the track come to think of it where i go out with people who's riding i know and who im comfortable with.
