he'll be on bridgestones with lorenzo on michelins, we'llfinally get to see how good rossi is next year as he'll have to ride the wheels off that crap yamaha to keep up with melandri/pedrosa/stoner plus the suzuki and kawasakis.
personally i hope he kicks ass and shows how good he is but if that happens i can see people saying it was the tyres not him

Rossi still waiting on Bridgestone
By Glenn Freeman and Michele Lostia Friday, November 2nd 2007, 10:41 GMT
Valentino Rossi says that no decision has been made regarding which tyre manufacturer he will race with next year.
The Italian is expected to switch to Bridgestone rubber for 2008, as he believes that the Japanese company has played a big role in Casey Stoner's success this season.
However, speaking in the paddock at Valencia this weekend, Rossi claims that he is still waiting to find out if he can switch to Bridgestone for next year.
"I wish I could tell you something about the tyres but we haven't decided anything yet," Rossi was quoted as saying by Gazzetta dello Sport.
"Bridgestone could be a possibility. It could be a risk but also a good solution. Unfortunately, however, there's no news yet.
Even if the former champion does get his wish and he is able to race on the same tyres as Stoner next season, it is unlikely that he will be able to try the rubber until next year.
"I don't yet know what the situation is, they are talking," he said. "As for the contract, Yamaha have a contract with Michelin until the end of the year."

I hope he is on Bridgestones and gets beaten all year. Serves him right for throwing his toys out of the pram!
Its not just tyres this year. Its about the package. Ducati got it spot on from day 1 with the rest playing catch up. Honda, Suzuki and Kawasaki are ahead of Yamaha now and its only Rossis talent salvaging some respect for Yamaha.
Interesting article in this months Bike mag with Troy Corser going through all the new electronic gadgets (traction control, launch control, anti spin etc). Saying how older style racers (i'll include Rossi in this) struggle with the concept of cracking the throttle wide open and letting the electronics do their stuff. Might explain why the younger riders are doing so well.

Rossi has been with Michelin ever since his 2000 premier-class debut and won the 500cc/MotoGP title five times with the French manufacturer from 2001-2005. However, chatter problems during 2006 and especially the dominance of Bridgestone in 2007 has seen the relationship rapidly cool.
This season saw Michelin lose the MotoGP title for the first time since 1991 and rumours soon surfaced that Yamaha star Rossi, like Honda's Dani Pedrosa, was pushing hard for Bridgestone tyres - as used by new MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner - in 2008.
When those requests were initially turned down by Bridgestone, MotoGP faced the possibility of a single tyre rule being introduced, but a compromise was subsequently reached to keep tyre competition alive.
As part of that compromise, Rossi will now get Bridgestone tyres, but be the only factory Yamaha rider on the Japanese rubber, since new team-mate Jorge Lorenzo (plus Tech 3 riders Colin Edwards and James Toseland) will use Michelins.
"In order to facilitate the use of both Michelin tyres and Bridgestone tyres within the Yamaha Factory Team and to ensure confidentiality of data for each tyre company, Yamaha will organise separate rider pit boxes, but the Fiat Yamaha Team will continue to operate and race as one team," said a Yamaha statement.
Rossi's triple hand fracture - sustained at Valencia on Saturday - and Yamaha's existing contract with Michelin mean that the Italian's Bridgestone debut will have to wait until the end of this month.

What a bloody idiot, he won't be able to get any data from the others. Maybe the proplems were with the bike not the tyres or maybe he's not so god like anymore. Seems a bit spoilt to me.
I hope Stoner kicks his arse next year...agin
Amd Padrosa is gonna do his nut.

i dont c the prob...sure he wont have any data but isnt that wot the test season is for!! im sure rossi and burgess have enough knowledge between them to know if they can make it work
Exactly!
He's at the top of the tree, and obviously frustrated with inferior machinery, and so looks to anything that might give him a margin ..... add to that it's as much a "mind" thing, so think he is on equal quality to his opponent ....
What you "put up and shut up" or "teddies out the pram" guys are effectively saying is that all tyres are equal, and he should just get on with it - which patently isn't true.
I just hope he doesn't live to regret his decision .......
Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....
