Hmmm... £48 for the day? That could have saved me a bob or two last time round at Llandow (bob or two is a mild understatement, would have saved me the best part of two grand  and to think Kerrie was griping about a wee scratch on her ZX...)

£48  Worth every penny just for peace of mind. Bookmarked this topic for when I EVENTUALLY do a track day.

Some quotes from http://www.pitandpaddock.com

Total loss only, £500 excess, no covering for bodywork and fairings: £75.08
Total loss only, £500 excess, cover for bodywork and fairings: £150.08
Ground up cover (replace what's smashed), £500 excess, no cover for bodywork and fairings: £143.65
Ground up cover, £500 excess, cover for bodywork and fairings: £218.65

What I would like is ground up cover, £250 excess, cover for bodywork and fairings: £260.31

So I think I'll be chancing it, to be honest.

you need a seriously big off to make it worth the expense,is that a annual policy or one day only ?

scotty would have benefited from it but my lowside at cadwell cost me just over 100quid to fix so not worth the hassle especialy with ebay usually having what you want/need

whats the difference between total loss and ground up cover,as im confused as to why total loss wouldnt cover fairings as standard ?

I agree, deej. Here are their definitions:
TOTAL LOSS ONLY COVER: When damage to structural components (not the “pretty bits” – see below) means that the cost of repairs or replacement would exceed the market value of the bike. This would result in the bike being written off and the insured would be paid the market value of the bike less the policy excess.

GROUND UP COVER: The cost of repairs or replacement of structural components (again, not the “pretty bits” – see below) is covered, up to the point that insurers decide that the bike is uneconomical to repair when the bike will be written off and the market value paid less the excess, as above.

STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS: Think of what is called a “naked bike”. Every component is necessary – the mirrors, handlebars, levers, speedo&tach , footrests, exhaust and silencers, forks&suspension, steering yokes, frames&subframes, wheels and all associated components, discs & calipers, master cylinders, tank, tail-lamps etc. Otherwise they are:

PRETTY BITS (Bodywork & Fairings): Top fairings, cowlings, seat cowls & fairings, side panels, infills, windshields and fairing screens, belly pans, air ducts, inspection panels, undertrays, huggers and any other components that could be described as such.

Oh, and that's one day only. Didn't bother getting annual quote to be honest.
