But if you limit it to 1000cc, one engine configuration will turn out to be the best and all teams will run it- hence you'll have a very boring, one make style series. Also, due to running one style of engine, research and testing would suffer on future roadbikes. Part of the attraction of going to race meets, for me anyway, is the different sounds of various engine configurations.

I've said it before, but the BSB bosses messed up here and should have used WSB format/ penalties- seems to be the best compromise at the moment.

I think people are being harsh on Shakey. I remember when he first came on the scene on a privateer GSXR750 and regular scored top 10's. I know he didn't do much on the Rizla GSXR1000 last year but the bike wasn't all that (and still isn't) Wouldn't be suprised if he was to replace Bayliss next year.

Quite right! Meanwhile Colin Edwards was busy beating the 998 of Baylis on an SP2 in what turned out to be an epic season for WSB.

Just couldn't help pointing that out. :P

right after watching the racing this weekend i have a few observations and questions

why did bsb follow wsbk and go with pirelli tyres but not the same eng rules

i thoroughly enjoyed wsbk as it had a lot of action and wow/ooh factor going on and 1 of the best superbike riders in the world on the supposedly best bike couldnt stay with the yamahas and gsxrs yet bsb was boring as fook, granted the weather didnt help and shakey rode awesome in race 2 but whys he got no competition

why is bsb only between the 1098s and the fireblades yet at wsbk level the yamahas and gsxrs are the front running il4s,bar checa the hondas are nowhere and the kawazakis are getting closer unlike bsb where its a honda/ducati cup and no-one else can get a bike or rider up there? is it funds/rules/team setup ?

just a few observations, please discuss

Ide say it was funds
airwave and hmplant have massive bugets the rest dont
but sykes is doing well on the rizla
then im suprised that the rizla suzukis dont get more help as they doing well in wsb and ama
but then the zx10r is doing well in ama but that is prob down to rules

sykes is doing ok with what hes got, he gets good starts and then seems to hold people up as the bikes quick in a straight line, once the hm plant and airwave boys pass him they seem to be able to gap him and he cant pass back.
you would have though the rizla should be better than the alstare bike with deniing running the motogp team out of crescent but its obviously not the case
