A mate of mine has just passed his bike test 33Bhp, (well done Age!! )
I have offered him the loan of my XJR 400, i've got restrictors (somewhere!!!) but i think he is finding it hard to get a reasonable insurance quote as this will be his first "big" bike!!!!
Does anyone know a good company who will insure a 19year old on a 400 import.

anyone should insure a 19yr old with a 400.
esp a XJR as its not a sports 400.
i used bike team ltd off the net..
im 18 with 1 years NCB,3 points speeding..bike garaged and alarmed...im paying 424TPFt......looking for pay 300 next year...
The Import part doesnt seem to matter anymore, Certainly on NC30's anyway. It used to make a £300 difference but now it's like £10 or so.
Hunt around, When I was looking I searched the big forums for lists of insurers and phoned every single one, When they asked what my lowest quote was I told them a price which I considered to be low (or atleast £200 cheaper than your cheapest quote, in my case anyway) most of them wouldnt touch it or go lower but I found one that undercut my made up price by £50 (Which was £250 cheaper than my prev lowest ) so I went with them. This was a copany called Cofield btw

errumm not me, duke is a bit more than 33bhp anyway
Bikesure were pretty good, and so long as he's got a yr's NCB or more behind him it shouldn't sting too much, if its more than £300 TP only then I'd be shocked!

Just flick open the yellow pages or biketrader and look for the smaller companies, the smaller ads. I find they give the best quotes, rather than the huge companies. I'm 17 riding ZXR400L, and paying £450, 1 years no claims, should go down alot more this year, when I have 2 years no claims.
When i took out the insurance in february i was 21 only just passed my test and had no NCB and i dont have an alram that knocks the insurance down either. I just told them another insurance company gave me a quote for about 275 which i was telling a little white lie but at least i got my insurance cheap, my excess is £250 aswell
