Removed the fairings and taken some pics , where should i be looking?

Not wishing to state the obvious, but it sounds like you need to buy a manual - if your local bike shop doesn't have anything, buy direct on-line:

It'll help you do troubleshooting and general tinkering and your confidence and knowledge will improve each time you do something. Oh, and spend a bit of money on some decent tools as well, not Sunday market rubbish, but decent kit, doesn't have to be Snap-On quality, but even the Halfords Professional stuff is reasonable and good stuff will last you pretty much forever. The old adage with tools, like many other things is "buy cheap, buy twice.."

Excellent cheers mate , i took the the switch gear off , took it apart and then sprayed it with WD40, cleaned all the parts up and secured the wiring and they work fine now.
