BSB 2009 - A weak series ???

Post by deej »

after watching this weekends racing from brands (which i admit was good close racing) it shows how big the difference is between bsb and wsbk

broc parkes struggles like hell in wsbk yet manages 3 podiums and is the only person who was close to running with camier. karl muggeridge hadnt raced for 3 months and jumps on the hm plant honda and competes right at the front of the pack infront of the likes of walker etc. i also dont get the fuss about camier, yes hes won all the races but hes got no real competition. if the likes of sykes, haslam and cruchlow were still there giving him quality opposition he wouldnt be anywhere near as dominant. on monday chris walker said that the ariwaves bikes cost £260,000 each and are the exact same spec as spies/sykes ride in wsbk and are actually turning out to be more expensive than last years ducatis. it'll be interesting to see how camier goes next year on sykes bike and also who the next up and coming british boys to follow in cucthlow n cos footsteps

agree or no ?????

I dont know if Leon Camier will be on Tom Sykes's Yahama next season in WSBK. Yamaha Italia seem quite keen on retaining Sykes & Spies - according to Motorcycle Racer Magazine, plus Visordown reported a solid rumour that Camier was going to Moto2 after sundays races, though i find the latter harder to believe but he definitly wont be in BSB.
Colin Wright was saying that he wants Josh Brookes to replace him! I found that startling, but after reading his coloumn in MCR im not surpised now. Seems ol' wrighty's got a hard on for the unloved aussie!!

Its very difficult to understand how good Leon is performing, He's beating his team mate, and the only guy who looked to match him was Sylvain until Brookes put an end to that. Hard to judge for sure, but your right, I think it would be different if all the guys from last year were still around. Having over a 100 point lead at this stage of the season, i mean when the hell did that last happen?

After losing the likes of Haslam, Sykes, Crutchlow and Byrne it has to be argued that there isn't the depth of talent that there was. Sure, Camier's doing really well, but it is getting a bit monotonous. Brookes has done him the biggest favour this year, skittling poor old Guintoli off, who looked to be the only one who'd really give Camier a run for his money, and then wiping out the leading seven runners at Mallory when Camier was about 9th. The series certainly isn't the spectacle that it's been in past years

Its been a wierd year for BSB

yes a lot of the talent went to world superbikes but its not been that bad, however I do think that beacuse of the lack of money in the paddock everyone has had to slow down on developments. (apart from Yamaha but after they won the MOTo GP last year they said that they are going to speed the money on winning all the over motobike series FACT!)

Also all the riders that have gone up not many of them have done that well plus how many have lost there rides this year beacuse of lack experience ? couple names ring a bell straight away.

I think its good that rides like walker have come back, but in my view he should of staid after losing the title chance in 2000.

However I think the BSB have let them-self's down by letting the rights go to Euro Sport, it should have staid on ITV for race day coverige as normal people could watch it with out having to go spend money on Sky TV.

It is on ITV, just it's about a week late and at a silly time like 01.00AM on a tuesday or wednesday ..... Oh, and the commentary team really are laughable!

Layne I think its on eurosport lol tbf the coverage and time they allow bsb is quite good, shame about the commentary gaffes. Races are usually live (providing there's no motogp/wsbk) and there's usually a hour or more midweek showing the support races. I think eurosport is available on freeview as well as sky

Crodders - which younger riders not been released for a lack of experience. The only front runner I can think of is rutter and he's not exactly young is he.
