I know this is an old thread, but changing your bike might make things slow down a bit.
I used to go a fast rate of knots but then took a look at things and bought a CB 1300. I get just as much fun on that at legal-ish speeds as warp factor 8 on the GSXR.
Or perhaps an unfaired KTM or triumph?

Im going to chip in too.Gixxersam wrote:I ride around 4-5 times a week and have a a huge craving for speed, fast cornering genially going flat out. I don't get shaken up at close calls I just get more buzzed up.
Its like I have a come down after or the next morning after riding with guilt and worry ie. the potential of harming others or losing my licence. Every biker I come across seems to be going at such a sensible pace even if there on r1 blades etc. I find it hard to understand how they control them self's.
I mainly ride alone maybe that's half the problem. Ideally I want to chill out a bit on the road and focus it on racing in the near future.
Just wondered if anyone else shares this kind of anxiety?
Yep I had the same issues. For me it was familiarity with the commute i do 5 days a week.
Funny but i slowed down with a faster bike. 600's i tend to get bored with, and thrash the tits out of them. Then i fell in love with 1000cc v-twins. loads'a low down grunt! Admittedly Ive given up bikes more than once, as i feared my own riding! But i came back better.
Dont get me wrong, i feel im a safe riders (now days), and im in double crash figures! But with age comes experience! Now days Im progressive, safe, and courteous to other drivers... But i still speed and hangin' it out whenever i can. As people have said, track-days are good, advanced training can be good some people too.
My advice would be to get your self some self control, risk manage every moment of your ride on the road.... and ride as much as you can in the rain! I love the rain. you can explore the limits without speeding.

XR400 for sale soon...
Re: Lack of self control
I did that too on the 600's. Thought I was doing well then an instructor comes past on CBF1000's brushing the tarmac with their hands.
Highly recommended.

There are loads of options, Chris Walker Race School, California Superbike School, Niall Mackenzie Superbike School and amongst others. Some of the bigger track day companies now have an ex pro or pro racer on board for the tuition side of things.

If you aren't having enough fun on the roads, it isn't fast enough, thrilling enough, then the track is your best option
As I understand it, they don't have a point system in the states, you just get hefty fines. Assuming they don't get trigger happy that is.

Stop road riding,
Live on track,
Learn to ride at Speed safely,
Learn to take instructions,

The fuzz will not.
