Raced at Thruxton on the Fireblade - Video

Post by layne »

My third meeting as a novice and back on the 2004 CBR1000RR. Thruxton is a great track and obviously quick. Just a shame it’s not available for trackdays.

This is the Powerbike Final. Qualified 19th from 43 and finished 22nd. Took it a bit too easy up to the first corner but couldn't regain the places mainly due to clutch slip, which you can hear as I try to accelerate out of the corners.

Had a best lap of 1:25.34 in the Open race with an average lap speed of 99.55 mph. In which I Qualified 25th out of 77 and finished 28th. Happy with the results as it was my first time at the track and having clutch slip.

I have (thanks Gav) also overlaid Race Chrono GPS data as its difficult to judge the speed with the track being so wide and open.

Try now.

Also forgot to say, picked up a rear puncture in the previous race but didn't notice till 15 mins before this race.
Took the gamble and over inflated it to go out. Normally its 25psi off warmers so that it runs at 26/27. Went out with 29, came in with 22
