Laser or Waterjet cutting.

Post by SteveR3 »

I'm waiting for quotes from a Waterjetter in Plymouth and a Laser cutter near Taunton - but does anyone know of any in the Exeter area?

Will be cutting [& bending] 3mm mild steel plate, 3 component drawings all done and 1,000's off needed.

Have you tried Stonemans at Willand? I know they do sheet metal fabrication/bending .....

Which firm in Plymouth have you tried? I've had a couple of bits done (admittedly on the "QT") at Laser Industries in Saltash, who will certainly be able to do what you want ....... I don't think they're particularly cheap though ......

I've emailed Stonemans ;) keeping tolerences up to keep costs down at this stage - don't want to pass too much on & frighten customers.

Will track down and email Kenex Engineering, cheer's Dynasangel

The 10mm thick (ally) suspension links welded onto my swingarm were water cut ....... and they needed quite a bit of tidying as the cuts were rough - but they were done ten years ago by someone new to watercutting. Technology has moved them on since then.

The 6mm thick stainless flanges on my exhaust link pipes were laser cut, and the finish was good enough to just need a light polish.
