Re: From Exeter (M5 Sandygate EX2 7HF)to Newquay. 16th Febru
Sorry to report I won't be able to meet up with you guys. I have to work Tuesday 16th as I'm taking Wednesday off work for a solicitors appointment. Robbo's Idea of leading to Launceston sounds good though, then take the twisties back to Plymouth and up the side of Dartmoor to get back to Exeter in plenty of time for tea and bickky's

Well if you would like to lead then sure please do itRobbo87 wrote:I'm a probable-maybe at the moment - but only as far as Launceston, cos I'm going for a back-road bimble looping back to Exeketer after that - and not on M or A roads more than essential - and whether dependant as per' my post above. I'm reckoning on a coffee/sarnie stop at Woodleighs @ Cheriton Bishop and am happy to lead from Zeketer to Launceston via Woodleighs if needed.
No no I am not angry I am just very disappointed at who you have turned out to bebadgerKDD wrote:Sorry to report I won't be able to meet up with you guys..

I don't really care
First time on the road in 4 years. New bike, sat nav all wired in and fitted. Plenty of Ac/dc on the garmin and lots more in the iPhone so if I'm on my own I'm happy as a sand boy.

Course, this being Blighty, come the day it could be snow, sunshine, hail, a plague of frogs ....
.... or all of the above. Best be flexible is what I'm saying.

See? I knew that would happen, the weather's gone into roll reversal mode and now it's TUESDAY that's looking o.k. ...... for now.
I'll confirm Monday p.m. but if attending I won't be wasting good money on a second rate brekkie in the Services; I'm for the all-day cholesterol and coffee at Woodleigh's, 30 twisty minutes away

I'm based further west near Hayle but I'd be keen to meet in Newquay, say hello. Are you taking the Atlantic highway down and up?
Cheers Max

I will have my breakfast at home as breakfast at the service station doesn't sound greasy enough..I will wait till our next stop for cheesy chips lunch yumRobbo87 wrote:See? I knew that would happen, the weather's gone into roll reversal mode and now it's TUESDAY that's looking o.k. ...... for now.

As stated in a previous post, I'm happy to lead a gentle-ish B road run from Exeter to Launceston and then point you on your way.SuperK wrote:I will have my breakfast at home as breakfast at the service station doesn't sound greasy enough..I will wait till our next stop for cheesy chips lunch yumRobbo87 wrote:See? Here's the details:
I'll be in the top car park of M5 Exeter Services at 10.00 a.m. leaving 10.15-ish and taking the twisties for breakfast at Woodleighs Coach House, Cheriton Bishop EX6 6JL. Then more B road twisties to Launceston, where I shall then head for Tavistock, then north on the A386, stopping for coffee in the VERY quirky Highwayman Inn at Sourton EX20 4HN (it's quoted as being 'The most unusual pub in Britain' so gotta have a peek and see what the shouting's all about), then more good roads back to East Devon, home and more coffee and cake.
Suggested route from Launceston to Newquay: From just west of Launceston on the A30, take the A395 signed for Davidstowe and Camelford and heading northwest. After approx 9 miles turn left on to the A39 'Atlantic Highway' and head southwest for approx 20 miles. At St Columb Major turn right on to A3509, ride for approx 8 miles and Bingo - Newquay & cheesy chips.
I'll have copies of the route(s) mapped out for anyone who needs it.
