Many bikes have issues with their CCT's, usually when using the bike for racing/tack days (high rpm) but again, many road only bikes have failed CCT's too. If they fail then the chain will become loose and could skip a tooth (normally not the end of world, just rough running) or a few (usually worse as valves could meet pistons!).
To correctly fit, valve covers need to be removed so the cam chain slack can be measured and to ensure that the timing is still correct after removing the old tensioner.
