Air Ambulance(s)

Look in here for local ride outs...

Forum rules
You are of course welcome along to any Southwestbikers rideout, however your bike must be in good mechanical order (we don’t want anything falling off of it including you), taxed and have a current MOT. You must have a valid motorcycle licence and current motor insurance. You are in charge of your motorcycle at all times and SWB will not accept any responsibility for actions you take or any accidents you may have. Always ride within your own capabilities and do not put others at risk. Remember, while you are on a Southwestbikers rideout you are representing the site and what it stands for.
Thank-you.

Don't forget......ANYONE can organise and run a rideout.

Air Ambulance(s)

Post by MellowYellow »

It seems that these fine folk have had their charity funding efforts greatly reduced by the Covid virus.

Might be a good idea to organise a charity ride for the ambulance at some stage this summer.

Official charity rides have to be covered by a public liability insurance.

they generally have an organised ride out for Devon air ambulance anyway, I cannot find anything about one this year though, have done a couple in the past , we ended up on Paignton green in those days , I think the end location has shifted now though

So it's unofficial.

Go for a ride. Collect some groats, donate it to whomever we choose.

Ok, get planning then.

yeah the air ambulance run is a good bimble. Think covid has scuppered it though as there's usually over 1000 bikes taking part

So on each 2021 ride I do from now I'll ask for a few coppers for Devon Air Ambulance. YES, you can trust me to actually donate it to the charity and not put it in my pocket. I'll keep a tally of our donations and we'll see how much help SWB can give this year.

I was reading their yearly financial statement yesterday, just to see how much it costs to run it.
Seems they have been given money from the government to make up for funding shortages due to covid.
Looks like last year they received £527,000 in covid support, but what puzzles me is why the government weren't highlighting stuff like this as something good they've done.

Governments move in mysterious ways, the air ambulances save them a lot of money I reckon £527,000 is a piss in the ocean, the air ambulances dont want government interference , if they took over it would be money saving cuts , sell the helicopters off to their fat cat mates and lease them back and within a few years they would be a memory like railway lines in most country areas
