Low horsepower aquarium

Post by trickdup »

Got me aquarium. Only a diddy one to start off with (40 Lt). Put my water treatment in. Now what? Do I need a couple of new clean buckets to treat water overnight before syphoning and replacing 1/4 tank twice a week for the first two weeks. Anything else I need to know.

Don't plan on putting any fish in for a couple of weeks.

two options realy kev - you have to build up the bacteria that complete the nitrate cycle ie break down the waste ammonia that the fish produce before you can fully stock the tank. You can either add a few hardy fish and let them "cycle" the tank (this can often stress them and cause damage/death though), or you can buy some ammonia solution and do a "fishless" cycle. the page below is worth a look, and has a link to more info about fishless cycling.
